DARK records is proud to present labels debut EP from Dark Summer. Its title Ride The Snake is a memorial to
one of the biggest rock stars on earth - Jim Morrison. In this EP, we bring you the finest selection of Dark Summer's
production of the past year and association with well known artist Digitalist. His remix of Clash Of The Worlds
is completing the atmosphere of this EP, that is dim but groovy, dark but excited with all sorts of sounds.
Everything combined with Digitalist's a-must-hear mastering.

Tracklist:

1. Dark Summer - Clash of the worlds (Original mix)...(5:47)

2. Digitalist - Clash of the worlds (RMX)...(7:14)

3. Dark Summer - Divine justifier...(7:18)

Mastering artist: Digitalist

Cover art: Yves Thomassin

**Review by Naveen / Wabi @ Labs Of Perception
..i am happy to review this piece.
Dark Summer is not just talented, but he has full on classical music education and experience...And he's a hell of a good guy!

..close your eyes and start listen..

1. Clash Of The Worlds [Original Mix]

Meditation.
The track starts with a claustrophobic voice sample {Donnie D. said it] followed by an Islam prayer. It is commenting on of course, today’s most commonly used word in the news "Terror". What's interesting though,
is that track really drives you think about it. The selection of carefully arranged sounds in the foreground in conjunction with the trippy oscillations and white noise as the back-drop, creates a meditative groove which doesn’t let you descend from the flow . Great continuance: I feel tribadelic after this. Personally it reminded me of the Moksha's deep contemplative never-ending rhythm .
As for the previous track, there’s still a lot that can be done on the sound quality.
This is personally my favourite.

2. Clash of The Worlds [Digitalist rMx]

…doesn’t waste time with the intro. It starts with a fresh kick and a barbed acid layer-rolling , quickly followed by a small evil explosion of tweaked twisted sounds. Although there’s less sense of a narrative in this track when comparing it to the other two there’s definitely something in it’s clean sparkling production.

3. Divine Justifier

Although there’s room for development on the level of sound production, this track is somewhat more established in the structural complexity of music.
Divine Justifier is a shizo-introspective process of an out-trip which slowly and surely goes up the spine and submerges you in the deep dark world of psychedelia.
Structurally the track is slow-paced and artistically pretty expressive with a good selection of muffled samples from Lynch and other subliminal particles. Lovers of the dark sound and the story-telling style of music will go with this one.
The only criticism goes towards the sound quality…Which is however, pretty good considering the lack of experience & equipment (Software: Dark Summer)
But having a good theory and lots of determination for hard work is eventually what drives a good artist to perfection.
There’s much yet to come from young Dark Summer.

Final thought:

There are’nt many psy artists out there these days who compose expressive "lyrical" music. Most of them are [un]fortunately telescoped into the production of sound. Of course, this is not to be discarded and left behind either.

Mr. Naveen, thank you for nice review and kind words, I'd like to add again that this is a tribute to Jim Morrison, true other side spirit;people, search the doors.
I realy wanted this EP to be available for people, even to add a free track which wasn't prepared and finished, but then I think I'll add it to my page in days later...
Thanx again, just keep the spirit!!!

dark summer´s track already on d-a-r-k´s first va was one of my favourites & now he´s following his dark twisted musical path forward...
my personal favourite of this ep is "divine justifier" which starts with a spooky intro, which lasts the listener to wait for more...
the track itself goes on very groovy in a dark mood & has a cool build up with many twisted synths which remind me in a very positive way to arsenic from italy...
the whole track is very interesting & twisted untill the end...

...when the world (original) i also like very much in cause of its mystery mood & is untypical build up, the sounds in it are twisted (again) in matija´s cool style, the atmospheres reminds to older xenomorph days, but its always kicking & atmospheric mind-shaking...

also "when the world... (digitalist rmx) is a strong psychedelic stomper but i little miss the mood from the original, but its for sure a bomb in every set...
the mastering done by thomas aka digitalist is very clean & strong, perfect mastering for this great music...
all together i congratulate matjia-dark summer for this great music & its release...
very unique & intersting style, keep up the good work... i´m enjoying it very much!!!

cheers
oliver

Review:
--------

1. Dark Summer - Clash of the world

The track starts with a vocal sample "You like Liquid......What did you find ? Nothing!! followed by some screeching leads and the usual dark summer phat rolling bassline followed by an Islamic Prayer "Allah-O-Akbar ...the first time i ever heard an islamic sound sample otherwise ,most tracks are full of Bom shankar and all the salutations to The Lordshiva, the track follows to build up adding layer after layer and after 1:59 you get to hear more morbid sounds a floating sound-scape which further tries to create a pre-climax i did say keeping up with the grind all way to 3:11 adding up my favorite classical acid leads which i have heard with dark summer debut track on VA TWisted flavors, the leads keep comin up with a melody on top of it creating the main climax making the track more chaotic further more till the end of this track.

This ones definitely a Scorcher !!

2. Digitalist - Clash of the worlds (rmx)

And now its time for Digitalist's version of Clash of the world. This one starts off straight without an intro, diving straight with acid belches , squeeches and a Uber Bassline for which i dig Thomas's track, Although this track was bought by me in digital format it sounds like i am hearing this track on a Vinyl, or maybe its the super-slick production of Digitalist. The track keeps further progressing with more and more twisted sounds perfectly creating a sinister atmosphere , it would make the listener expect of any unexpected surprises further down , so faint hearted fella's beware !!! the track keeps getting sinisterly complex to a extent where it sent shivers through my spine goes on building the climax till 4:52 after which gives a good break and stutter to explode with a floating alien sound and gets more psyched layers inter-woven till the end. This one's definitely a super-slick quality production.

3. Dark Summer - Divine justifier

This one starts with an alienetic sound creating a perfect ghost-story narrative atmosphere progressing with more eeries sound samples that come out and disappear in oblivion, the bassline is phat and rolling 1:52 onward starts those acid riffs slicing through the darkness of this sinister story, bending exploding into newer layers of mad ass acid leads, just ripping and tearing each stance apart. My personally applause to dark summer for using those classical acid leads which really sum up my trip, the voice sample 4:11 onwards sound bit cheezy esp when you are on the verge of outbursting evil, but doesn;t bother much either coz the journey into the darkness keeps continuing 5:00 on theres a lead which should have been much intense , this sounds a bit muffled or i dunnno how i did put this but there's sure is chaos ( i had expected something more at this point) but eventually dark summer makes my night with those acid leads i always dig.

Peace

First of all, thanks to Vic and Triplag for the continuous support.

Appleseed, that is an excellent review, that's also how I perceived the entire EP.

Dark Summer is a still young artist, but a lot of perspective for the future. Keep encouraging him as he has definitely some surprises to make us hear in the coming months and years.

D-A-R-K is releasing these EPs to bring you the newest production of artists we dig from the underground and having the good vibes flowing.

Nowadays, more and more artists are creating dark psy, so there is their chance to get known in some new unconventional ways. We hope this will please the underground folks supporting this dark shamanic psy scene.

So far, response as been encouraging so people can expect more of these EPs coming from D-A-R-K Records.

Stay tuned and keep digging dark!!!!           D-A-R-K Records
