Hey people, my girlfriend has a disability and I have workedin the field all my life, can you please change the title to people with a disability or something? That title is rude and disgusting, I'm a bit on my soap box, but everybody here cause a who ha when goaheads are called drug junkies etc. A little respect goes a long a way... I thought moderators were supposed to monitor such things, this is just mean... often people with physical disabilities are just as intelligent, if not more than average Joe, but lack of muscle control and damge toe the central nervouse system makes their speach slow and their body is stuffed. My girlfriend has doen postgrad at one of Australia's top university getting top marks for her thesis... her disability was caused only by an arrogant doctor who gave her other a lethal overdose of spinal anaesthetic at birth... if not for this she would be perefectly able in all aspects... get some education, get a life and learn to respect those around you. |

To be fair JMP I don't think anyone meant any harm. I must admit I couldn't help a guilty laugh when I saw the link because I can see the humour here, but then my mum worked with children who have disabilities for years so I feel exactly the same way you do about having some respect and understand where you are coming from.
But I think you have to bear in mind that it's just one of those 'borderline humour' things - it has the potential to be controversial because of the subject matter and choice of wording, nonetheless I very much doubt anybody wanted to cause offence. Just because I laughed doesn't mean I'm have no respect for those who live with disabilities, though I am sorry that you're upset. You sound like a really nice person X

Cheers yeah it's a bit of a sensitive thing for me... I guess I used to laugh at such things before I worked in the field and met my partner... anways, live and learn eh? Let's go backto laughing  Ps I'm in Australia and it's winter brrr...  |

That's fair enough. Your experience is bound to make you feel that way.
I guess there is room for laughter on issues as sensitive as this one, so long as we are aware that the intentions are usually humorous not prejudicial. I mean blimey, people post some shocking stuff up here - sometimes I don't know how they muster the balls! But I don't think anyone really escapes a good ribbing by this lot, especially fluffy hippy types
Anyway, as for it being winter down under, I'm in England where it sure feels like winter even when it's not supposed to.  |

Dude..... its just a joke...
And for info i used to live next to a handicap school when i was a kid, and my mom was working there.
And to finish i think that this site is more about ppl like this Astrometrix guy, morons who makes music that stinks, then lick asses beetween each other on Acidplanet.com, and not much about putting handicaped ppl down.
Anyway if it has upseted you so much that you want this topic deleted, i can always pm a mod and ask it to be done.

No need to delete anything. As long as there's humour there will always be something that will be offended. The important thing is not to take it personally, cause clearly neither the poster of the original post nor the owner of the http://www.musicbyretardedpeople.com had in their goals offending retarded people.

I agree with everything you say mate about ppl with disabilities. I've been working with such children in public schools as a teacher and my mom is a nurse in a private institution for the handicapped. Trust me, there are loads of ppl in this forum who (no matter what they might occasionally express by their writings in a moment of comicotragical crisis!) still have a common sense and sensitivity on serious matters. I do feel there was never an insultive intention in this topic
