May be a bad name for a Topic,
but is it possible to Search entire Sections??
lemme try and explain if im being too vague..

Suppose i want to See results from General Discussion. I Choose General Discussion under Forum Name and it searches for all queries under Trance,DJs & Artists, CD Reviews, Promotional and Trance Art.

If i wanna see search results from the Equipment and music creation, New Tracks, Unidentified and Second Hand sections i just chose Help

and i can choose IsraTrance Forum Boards to search the entire Forum.

used to be that way... with the current server bandwith and such..... the forum is too large to support so many users implementing this function.
sorry - until there is find a better solution - c'est la vie.

aha that is the reason
I noticed it had changed some time ago and wanted to ask this question also... it's much easier if you can search the whole forum at once, but I guess we'll have to live with it

good thing I used the 'search' on this before starting a new topic           http://www.dacru.be

ya, i agree its crap.... perhaps after we get the t-shirt thing going we could use the money to get a better larger server and be able to implement the full forum search again.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

pardon me for such hard language for the topic....not my style...but since u locked the last one and I wanted to maintain some degree of continuity...

u know this as mod, when someone opens a topic, thats it! the topic then becomes public domain and everyone is free to add stuff after that...the opening thought is a platform, but if u guys start jumping urselves...making examples out of people...then not fun

oof, here are my problems with search -

- u have too little categories
- what if i want to search by 2-3 words...goa 2003...i end up with shit
- if i try searching by half name...in my case vagator...i end up with user dont exist
- u want me to search inside posts...shift went to loo in london and it wasnt nice

so hey, if the search is so inadequate right now...and i know there has been effort to do something about it..google and all...then i think u shouldnt so much insist on locking posts coz people havent searched, or found.

and if u wanna lock, provide answers...when the drawback in on ur side, the word facilitate includes putting up a link...bullying means locking it

i now see all threads beginning with an apology...oops soory i searched but not found it....why this imposed guilt trip? (damion made a crackng joke on this, but i think it got lost )

if u wanna be good mods...when a thread comes in which belongs to something already done before...then simply put it there, why lock it without providing an alternative? u see, ideas come as they do...sometimes more/better ideas have come before...its a mods job to connect them...otherwise ideas get lost...

what u have to keep in mind is that ideas in fomration might have a similarity, but their fruition soooo depends on the time and circumstance...so the same topic might lead into an entirely different direction...point is, who will, but more importantly, who can connect the sum of ideas....a mod, and mod only...and i think it should get included in her/his job profile...if anyone follows the threads its mods, and if anyone can use search better, its them!

so lead by example....how many times we see 1 yr post getting revived...make an example of doing that by moving new threads to their original topics...u do it a few times urself, people will realise its a cool thing to do

also, by mandate, each section should have the search thread upfront...and well explained....whats this useless trance section search thread....no one gets the point...think more non-user friendly

pls, im not defending stupid posts, so dont snare me down on that...and im not saying mods are doig a bad job or anythin like that...make search better or 'care' for people more

1. Most mods as far as I'm aware are long term users that have aced the use of the search (Gadi - aka Surrender isn't the only one )

2. Most users don't bother looking in depth into stuff and just wanna post the first thing that come into their mind instead of searching/reading the stuff that was written before regarding the same subjects.

3. A LOT of the users who join in don't read the guidelines and don't even know where is the search engine is not to talk about how to use it.

4. Some users just want to post topics to get their rank up espcialy when just signing in to this forum.

My 2 Cents
