we had cute alien heads in the old forum, and with respect to people with slow connections im pretty sure this wont happen.

Avatars have been discussed in the past and the decision was NO for several reasons:
1. People with a slow connection - many of this forum users are not israelis. Fast internet connection is not common all over the world as it is in Israel.
2. Content control - we have enough trouble as it is around here making sure some threads won't turn into fights and that people behave. We don't need to start checking avatars' content (what if someone uploaded a porn image as his / hers avatar for example?)
3. Bandwidth - takes more bandwidth than just text. Bandwidth costs money.
4. Programing - the list of stuff to-do is long, avatars aren't on it, and even if they were, I assume it would have been down the bottom of it.
but this has been discussed many times before here, with the same answer.

2. That's not the reason. Everyone can report these porn avatars without any problems
3. Agree. But still, by using uploaded huge flayers with party promotions and CD covers at www.isratrance.com you show us power of your bandwidth
4. Programing? Do you want a script for using avatars?

A power paid for out of our own empty pockets for something we consider the heart of this site- the music. Avatars for thousands of users on tens of thousands of threads don't fall into this category.
I'm not convinced yet.
