The third vol. of the Plusquam records compilations comes out now at the end of march providing us with great progressive music and fat production.Dont think I need to add something about Plusquam records.
TrackList:
1.Ryan Halifax - Fuck Me Rich
2.FREq - I've Been Sent
3.Mapusa Mapusa & Fabio - Beachball
4.B.L.T. - The Slapper
5.Vaishiyas - Boobs
6.Tegma - Wandala
7.Shaman - Random Shape
8.Missing Time - Working Girl
{1 - Ryan Halifax - Fuck me rich}
The begin of the Compilation with a nicey "chilling" background accompanied with nice groove.
Nice proggy bassline , nice groove playing - make you shake your legs.Nice effects - although not creating any special background - really miss it.The first break is very nice with some voice telling "fuck me rich" , then the track develops nice and melodic in progressive style.
{2 - Freq - I've been sent}
Begins with some kind of a funky bassline , and thin percussions and effects.
After the one minute of beginning - "begins" the track . Progressive effects with very nice dialogs between them , all these accompanied ofcourse by nice bassline and good play of effects.This one is very favourite in all CD , realy melodic and groovy.
{3 - Mapusa Mapusa and Fabio - BeachBall}
Here comes more deep track than two before.
Nice deep bass and kick , developing mels and effects dialogs.Not special groove play , but what I liked is the melody - very intelligent , developing slow and nice.
Dont have something special to add ,missing some kind of background to make it more deep but , nice track very melodic , kind of melodies you have to remember.
{4 - BLT - The slapper}
Here it comes with a background at the beginning - very nice and growing till the kick bass combo to enter.
The percussion is nice - some kinda distorted a little , very good.Liked the reverb usage which can be felt here so good.
Very good effect dialogues , groove play is nice and good , nice trance melodies coming from sides - this one realy make you sit and listen and expect something new.I liked the melodies ,breaks ,groove and effects but didnt so liked the bassline - little bit high.
Anyway this track is much more reminds trance than the first three.
{5 - Vaishiyas - Boobs}
Nice begin , groovy and with some pad creating nice background.
What I so liked in this track is the groove games - so tricky , so good developing and so make you happy and shaking.
A little miss is the effect dialogues which dont come a lot in track , although its melodic and very nice but somehow I didnt felt something special - but who knows maybe its after Blt track which there a lot effect dialogues.
{6 - Tegma - Wandala}
Good background at the beginning , nice bass and kick , good groove play and effects work.
The track develops into something very melodic for trance and even for progressive trance standarts but somehow stays in its.
I didnt so liked it but this track is very different because of this melody - for sure its a hit for dancefloor.
{7 - Shaman - Random Shape}
Taken from the shaman album , great track.
Great beginning , very very good soundwork.
The track is more trance , more deep and scary background , awesome groove games and as i said the sound work.
Very good placed effects and dialogues between them , "super" background.
{8 - Missing Time - Working Girl}
A little long intro , comes with pecussions and pads , creating very nice atmosphere.
Good kick and bass combo , more progressive style effects and melodies.Liked the developing of the track , liked the groove which adds a lot not only to a "groove" but also alot to a special background created here.
Overall , the compilation varies two styles of music - one is more progressive , more clubby and another more deep and less clubby , but both very dancelfoor.
It begins with the first 2 or 3 tracks which comes in a more clubby style then it grows to BLT ,Vaishiyas and Shaman tracks which more deep background and much less clubbier.The Tegma track may be a surprise for someone like it was for me - till now dont so understand it - its nice but its something between the two styles i mentioned before - maybe its good cause it comes as a break between Blt and Vaishiyas tracks to Shaman track.The last track is more similar to the first 3 tracks on the compilation - like a nice finish to a circle drawing.
To all who like progressive music , just enjoy from a very good compilation.As I said there are two styles which a little different , but for sure both of them are very dancefloor.
Highly Recommended.
Overall : 9.5/10
Favourites Tracks : 2,3,4,7.
Enjoy |

Nice review Tente I like the album but yeap ryan and freq is just too proggy. I liked 4 , 6 and 7 the most. Although i have hoped for a new track by shaman, the track was his from album and one of my favourites

Yeah, that did it for me too.
Another great prog compilation by Plusquam. All tracks are good and impressive on their own way. Standouts for me are Tegma, Mapusa Mapusa & Fabio, Shaman (although already known from the Foretaste album) and especially BLT (subtle as well as incredible that change to a superfunky bassline around 3:40 min). |

www.psymag.com review
Review by Simon
The 3rd meltdown came to my mailbox not long ago; skillfully compiled by Mapusa Mapusa & Laureth.
The compilation present some of the more outstanding proggy artists in the scene like Tegma, BLT, Mapusa Mapusa & Fabio to name a few. The album has been carefully selected, with a strong emphasis on the arrangement of the tracks resulting in soothing flow of sounds bearing a multitude of perceptions & ideas, very well produced. The album begins with Ryan Hailfax with a very powerful track, delightful opener for this astonishing compilation, I must say. The compilation continues rocking walking down the minimal progy edges of things. On the way we meet a bit of a low key track, for my taste, from Freq and an amazing follow up by Mapusa Mapusa & Fabio (Beachball), elevating things back nicely. Z track that all should offer an ear too is the track by Tegma, just a work of art sweeps you off to an enchanting trip of sounds and ideas, a real jewel for the progressive, less psy, but yet trance lovers .
To sum it all up, this is an excellent, well balanced compilation, I have enjoyed every second and every sound it collaborates, not only because of the tracks, but as the result of the great flow it posses…
RECOMMENDED!!!!
