their is a pop-up message when you access the site which gives explanation, but that has been their for a while now

They are building a new site, it's almost ready but still has to be installed on a new server. because the site is now running on his home pc on a normal internet connection he (Mars) limited the site a tad 
once the new version is installed, it'll be Da Bomb!

The site is still up dude and so is the forums. Well i hope they revamped the site soon, kick ass site! Probably the best in the net! |

As you have probably seen, this site's speed has decreased to an unbearable extent :

You probably also noticed the site is no longer updated correctly.

Actually we knew this home-made site was no longer shaped for its size and requirements...
Since july, my work has let me more time, which enabled me to silently resume the developement of the new version of the site. Children I saw tonight will also hopefully work on it. (Yes, we know it's been 2 years we tell you this story).
We confirmed each-other our involvement into Psynews and our determination to lead this project to its end.
However, due to our personnal lifes and works, we cannot set any timeline. At the moment these lines are written, some important parts are finished, some are being debugged, some are being rewritten, a new layout is ready, and all existing infos need to be migrated. We do wish it was faster, please be patient.
Meanwhile, the Psynews site you are visiting will not be updated, some outdated parts won't be accessible anymore, and the mainpage will lead you directly to our lovely forum
about the contest(s) :

About the third one, with all the disk-space / bandwidth / label / time / etc issues we faced, we could not reasonably start the listening sessions and votes, we could not even tell if it would end up in something. Why not, one day...Anyway, thanks very much to all the competitors...sorry too.

the problem he has now is finding adequate hosting with the right (latest) version of php that it needs to run.

Yes it's been 2.5 years psynews2 is in the pipe.
The site was so static that it needed 2 hours a day to update it. When Children, its creator, got fed up of doing it, we had already taken the decision to rebuild the site.
I had the technical skills, and i had been helping Children for a long time, etc...
Actually psynews2 went in the trashcan after 2 years. It was almost impossible to develp it because it was too complex for the technology used (php). Impossible to maintain also. So i restarted using OO tech (tomcat/jsp/servlets), and this time it goes fast. so we'll name it (unofficially) psynews2.5.
At the same time, my router tricked me and the remainings of psynews(1) were offline a good part of the day in november and december.
And to complete i have had absolutely no news of Children since august. i seriously wonder if he's dead or not.
However i do own psynews.org and .net. Not Children. So no matter if Children is just too busy to call me for 6 months or if he's dead, then i am entitled to do what i want.
Psynews2.5 is only a small part of my time because i also have a real work and in my spare time i prefer staying with my gf. So you'll understand it takes some time. I just hope it will be launched before psytrance is dead
The last thing is the hosting. Rik (see above) has a good solution for me.
Hmmm when is psynews going to be released ? I remember saying september 2001, then march 2002, then....then...i hope before the summer 2004
I really think you'll find a good source of psy-infos once it is released. |
