It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.

There are a lot of people talking about low sales, labels are closing, etc, and we know this is happening, but when it comes to know the real numbers we have few reliable information.

In many different discussions people throw sales numbers without any reference as back up to their words. As a very skeptic person I usually only actually believe in something when it has reliable references (I may take what people tell me into consideration, but from this to actually believing them is a huge step), and even this way I got deceived many times.

I know many albums got very low sales (because the artists or the label told me the numbers), but still there’s no official public information about it, and I believe this information may be useful, maybe even to increase general awareness about the risks of opening a label, or even releasing an album. I saw some people building up lots of expectative towards their album release, and being torn apart by the following deception with the sales.

It is important to make explicit that the sales does not reflect how good the music is. To exemplify that, I have reviewed many awesome albums which sold less than 1.000 copies. On the other hand, many “generic full on” compilations which don’t even get a review here or anywhere else sell more than 3.000 (I got a bunch of "played once dusty promos" to back me up). I also have similar feedback from some artists I interviewed @ my http://www.fullonline.net/interviews site.

So the point is to find out the real numbers, to increase general knowledge and maybe awareness. Nobody is forcing anybody to answer, but answers will be appreciated.

Also if anyone knows some reliable and already public sales facts please share the links.

very good thoughts @ full_on.....

dude, we should respect the efforts of someone, who is trying to invest time & energy towards analysing the scene & this would help to get our facts right & we can walk towards the right directions once we know, what is it that we are doing wrong or incorrect.....

We used to sell 5000

These days, and this has alot to do with this forum, we sell about 2000 max

People like you with your stupid questione

Get with it

I'd actually go so far as to say 'THIS FORUM KILLS SALES' what with all the clique and the 'KEEP IT UNDERGROUND' rubbsh most frequent posters popout with.

If you want to point fingers Napo, point them at yuorself for being so boring. Take some Sid. Be honest and psychedelic, not a coffee drinker. Doh!!!

Coffee has bat all to do with psy sales

@ Squat Merchant
Can you please explain the "We" more in depth?
5000 copies seem WAY over the top even in the better times and if now you sell 2000 copies then you're in a good situation imho
First lets know who you are with these random numbers you are throwing.

BUju
p.s. - again you seem to ignore the basic rules of respect to other users here.
Please can you control your stupied outbursts ?

I don't see why this is a stupid idea, i think it would be interesting to know how many albums artists actually sell. Comparing anything to simon/gms/infected mushroom is pointless. I think the artists themselves have an inflated idea of how many albums they are going to sell. you can't compare sales from 1999 by the biggest names in the game when there were as many albums released in the whole year as there are in 2 weeks now.

This looks like a blatantly accurate description.
