money sucks generally ...

how can it be that about 5% of the world population owns over 90% of the money?
its all a big fuck!

and the same goes for software... i hate to support huge concerns wich got more than enough money...
why should i spend my last cent for it?
well, its a neverending story...

if ppl would love my music, i would love to share my knowledge and my sounds for free what is not possible if you need money...

Copy protection is disrespect and war with customers imho...

I believe that it is not something that raises sales of the software. What raises sales is popularity and friendship with customers (+ affordable price), because there are a lot of people with adequate understanding that software developers need money to go on.

Shortly, people should buy software because they like it, but not because it's copy-protected.

Some developers support such approach and feel quite fine (e.g. Reaper).

i totally agree with you on this point. some digital media companies (software, music, ..) want to get paid extra for no extra effort. it was never that easy to design an idea and after finalisation, sell it without producing it, without the need of big factories, without the need of material, without the need of manpower.

the only big problem is that in bad times (= times with slighty less profit) the managers of the companies don't cut their caviar, oyster and chamagne consumption, but preferably cut the developers/musicians salery, or even better, just fire some!

the whole piracy discussion was started just by the extreme greed of the companies, that earn lots of money nevertheless.

i love piracy and i would only buy software if i knew i had top-notch personal support included!

that said, i use only free software and i'm always amazed by the great support and fast bug-fixes. :-P

Money is only a way of keeping account of trading of real stuff, like food, clothes, cars, buildings - basically work accumulated already and present ongoing work like contracts to repay debts.

The main reason that there is inequality of distribution is because everyones value added is not equal.
Some have talents some don't. Some have a hardworking, education culture others don't.
Some are driven to succeed over their competitors others aren't.

Inequality of distribution is societies' way of saying, you're not contributing enough to SUSTAINABLY get shoes or food. Your competitiors are doing far better, thats why they get more, and you have to do better.

Its difficult to argue that people should be penalized for being smarter and working harder, but in the majority of cases, these are the people we would be blamed. Fraud happens only in the minority of cases, otherwise the whole system would be unsustainable and collapse.

Capitalists are massively underrated and misunderstood. The real ones open up new environments and opportunities for value creation. The fraudsters, sure I agree, should be thrown of a cliff. But people should not generalize that every-one is like that.

Gutter - its not a rat race. Life is a bubbling of creation and survival. U can choose to engage and grow or live in denial and be left behind.

@elad

I was speaking of the producer as the hobbyist. I was saying to purchase your software after you are making money off your music. When your music no longer becomes your hobby but your career. Even a middle class working man who produces as a hobby can't afford to buy hardly any of the good software available.

Also, I greatly support the slogan "try before buy"

exactly and companies have to understand this and realize that theres many people producing music besides top of the line studios and put a price on it that will sell the product to more than just the studios.           http://www.youtube.com/user/trawhi (tutorials)

well it's sad that for many psy artists it's highly unlikely that they will ever make enough money(from their productions alone) to cover the cost of the software they (honestly) should have payed for.
that makes almost no sense to me.

now just try and make me feel guilty about piracy.

i use almost in access of $10000 of illegal software (so as not to be in a disadvantage to all the inherently rich producers). now am i suppose to make awesome 2010 music with ableton lite and demo software shit?

so sue me, tripple dare anyone
if you ever read this billy boy, i stole just about all your shitty software, just like you stole windows from steve.
