Viex Farka Toure is a guitarist and singer from Mali. Some people call him the Jimi Hendrix of the desert... whatever he is, his music is magic.

one of my favourites...

btw, anyone familiar with African music will probably recognize his family name. Vieux is the son of the late Ali Farka Toure one of the most famous musicians to come out of the continent. The first song in the topic 'Ai Du' is actually a composition by the father.

Check out his new project with Idan Raichel from Israel.

I think it's the only thing I listened to since yesterday.

Got the CD today at a local record store near my home ( for some reason it's already available here )

Slightly overproduced like most Idan Raichel releases but still great. Glad it's on Bandcamp.

Have you heard the Vieux Farka Toure remixes ? Some nice tracks on there...
