@ subcon: it was nice to have a conversation with you. I hope it's not the last one we'll have

@ alias: if you don't mind I'll take that as a compliment           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"

I really wanted to keep this gem of knowledge to myself but alas I'm such a good natured human being.

>>thanx for sharing the link original poster

No problem. hehe

>>Oh also the idea of play a bunch of different parts then and recording it, then taking those parts and picking a piece that sounds good for a section and chopping it up using that piece, very good stuff.

Are you saying most people don't mix that way?

Everything I've read discusses the concept of recording, then mixing your recorded audio, finally once the project is mixed, you export it to a stereo audio file and master.

When you see how much CPU you save by bouncing every thing to audio first, too, it's very easy to see why this method of production is used.

I always have two projects per song: one is a MIDI data .cpr and the other is the audio file .cpr. I do my sound design and actual composition in the MIDI project and once I have an instrument or loop sounding the way I want it, I bounce it to an audio file which I then import into the audio project.

I also record everything dry; I only use plug-ins in my audio file project. Trying to to both in one project would crash my system very fast. hehe

Peace,

Jim
