you should be able to connect a second monitor through a dvi, hdmi, display port from your mac
it must have one of those!           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

VGA is analog, HDMI is digital. You need something to convert it (and, we producers spend hundreds on just a little sound card with good AD/DA converters, so 30 € isnt much..).

What mac do you have? I could point you out to what you need.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

Ok.

These MacBooks come with a miniDVI port, so you'll have to connect that to your monitor. If your monitor has a DVI or HDMI input, than use that! You will just need the proper cable. miniDVI is digital, and there is no need for you to convert to analogue (such as VGA) just for the monitor to convert it back to digital to show it.
However, if your monitor only has a VGA input, then you'll need the miniDVI to VGA adapter, and connect the VGA cable from the adapter to the screen.

You were probably speaking of this adapter: http://store.apple.com/it/product/MB572Z/B/adattatore-da-mini-displayport-a-vga
(btw, in Portugal it costs 20€ for some reason..)

If you are not too fond of spending that much money (although proper manufacturer equipment comes with better quality and guaranty), I recommend this store. It's super cheap (from China), free shipping on every product to just about anywhere in the world (but it takes a month / month and a half to arrive). Or, search you local retail store, you find something with a price somewhere in between from this and from apple.
