ive been maing music for over a year and before i started the person who was encouraging me to produce explained how in psy everything chsnges like 4 or 8 or 16 or 32 bars...and then i just started and i think my stuff sounds ok timewise with introducing new parts but im still not sure if im setting up my patterns/loops correctly...im using fl and this is a pic showing one of my projects..i think what ur looking at is a 16 bar pattern/loop?right? i may be really stupid cuz there are numbers and stuff and if its 104 to 120 then its 16 bars right?

your fl looks very boring dude, try getting the charcoal skin, that's what i use with a jungle/forest background to get my inspiration going
got to the sequencer, enter a piano roll, see those numbers upthere? that's where the bars numbers are (i think) if not, sorry, but there are a number of ways to count them
and i don't use that playlist part to arrange my tracks and patters, i use the other one, that part i use only for automation

i have enough inspiration from my view which is really tall mountains and beautiful forests..anyways im pretty sure the numbers are it but i want to make sure
secondly, start using that part because in FL 10 there isnt any block patterns anymore os learn how to pattern up there to.peace

i already know how to sequence my track in that part, i just don't like having automation , sequences, etc all together
and i won't turn to fl 10 so soon, i'm happy with the v. i have
but yeah mate those are probably the numbers you're looking for, or go by seconds your choice

yes. each number represents the bar, so what you are looking at is indeed a 16 bar loop starting at #104 and ends at #120.
minor or major changes, fills, drops etc usually occurs every 4, 8, 16 and 32 and thats pretty much what 'you want to hear', especially on the dancefloor
so.. yeah your project looks all good, keep at it mayne |

Why don't you load one of your favourite tracks in a daw and see what they do each 4/8/16 bars?

I think the reason is more along the lines of don't get distracted by internet nonsense when you're trying to make music
