OMG this forum is so slow Im giving up on visiting it.
It's sad - I like it here but man I get sick of waiting - And Im on a T1
Hope it can be fixed

..about to give up with the forum
sometimes it works just fine.. but usually it's slow as hell.. takes minutes (if not more!!!) to load anything..

Im sorry but thats wrong!
im connected to a t1 lan, i have a connection at 2Mb/s, all the other sites just instantly pop up, everything downloads extremely fast, I went to those pages to do a speed test, and in many my connection went off the scale of speed!...and still Isratrance is extremelly slow, I just took like 2 min to open the bug forum, 1 min to open this thread, and 1 min for each page i went forward in the thread...
Thats just 5 minutes totally lost, and its just an example, as traveller said sometimes it works fine but sometimes its just extremelly slow and most of these times I just give up, as probably most users do.
I must say its getting pretty anoying, I've been visiting the forum less and less, and I believe there are much more ppl in the same situation...

well...
i'm happy for your fast connection,
but on most cases network is not a problem
aslo no problems with server...
application itself - forum engine sometimes got
stucked for several minutes and we know the reasons for it ( one of them is the dementions of Forum: more than 2500 active users,many online and very many topics/posts)
currently we are working on some major updates
to improve it... |

Things i have noticed and ways to combat:
1. the forum is slow when multipule msgs are written in a particular section and not just read.
2. there are many users online.
3. around morning and everning time in israel (heaviest net traffic) +2:00 GMT.
ways to avoid the slowness:
1. try to surf to a diffrent section of the forum... if "trance" is not loading, go somewhere else for a while, until the congestion is over.
2. try to go to a diffrent section all together: if "main" rooms are slow, go to "country" sections, or "help" sections, this will take a load off the system.
3. if all else fails, take a deep breath, a tall drink of water, and be thankful this place even exists.

the only problem here is search engine, if someone makes the search it stucks the whole engine for a while
that's it. no problem with server, application or the link;)
but good things u said, that's exactly what we've already checked;)
p.s. we are working on that search...

What I have noticed is that if you dont login then there's no problem.. All forum's show instantly but the second you login the problems start - Long load time for each forum and sometimes a total stall where no forums will load.... Why is that? Just curious

when user logged in there are much more actions
done by application, such as update last visit, or topics visits and so on...

In which way mod_gzip can help us? Compressing and decompressing content will only take more server resources.
