Yeah, I saw psykovsky play at the noise poison party in Aus a year ago and he was so over the top when it came to the fake knob twisting. I am not so into his music, it is interesting to listen to but it is not really dance music.

Just out of curiosity how common is fake knob freaking out/twisting on stage? |

In psytrance I've seen it many times, but most are making the typical ableton live setup kinda live. Sometimes the artists don't even touch the knob, just hoover their hand over it. On house / electro / dubstep and other more comercial genres it's much worse, almost all live acts have fake knob twisting
For me I don't really care, I just want to listen to music.

well, i found this quite interesting...
i come from a different scene, but always admired the psytrance thingy because i thought it wasn't fake, unlike that eurodance (paul van dyk, tiesto...) and bro step (aoki and friends) but watching videos of "live psy trance" is quite sad... i mean, it's an insult to the music, to the producers and to the crowd (that starts to think that electronic music is nothing more than knob twisting...)
Sorry if i sound like a duche, but it's just how i view it... there's no need for "faking"... i mean, nobody cares... |

he is on his own world while mixing. not much interaction with the crowd.

Mate, a monkey could learn to mix trance, producing music like this, on the other hand, takes a hell of a lot of skill, knowledge and time.
