Two of my best friends live in New-York. Their families have not heard a thing from them, and neither have I.

It's scary.

I've been a pretty cynical person about terrorist attacks, mainly because the day to day life in Israel made me a very cynical person. But some tragedies are too big, too horrible, so shocking that even the thickest layers of cynicism can't completely shield you from the terrible reality of it.

I hope, I wish, I pray that something like this won't happen again. But whenever there are people who will die and kill for something, this world will never be a normal place. Please, everyone - don't be negative about all of this, don't point your finger and say it's because of whatever reason you think it may.

Be out there to help all the people who were hurt, be strong for people who need it, and don't let this horrible act take down the human spirit, which I still believe, is in a deep place, very good and kind.

PLUR, not my usual signature, but it has an extra meaning over the last days.

Asaf.

Patrick, I'm glad your not joining the military for another to years because you shouldn't be joining at all.  It is your choice; it's your life, but do you want to be one of those who end up harming the innocent while retaliating against evil?  More innocent people will be harmed if we use violence to solve our problems.  Don't let the government own you any more than they already do now.  Aren't there any better ways to help people in need?

I've enjoyed my time here in this fourm. But this will be my last post.

I'm disgusted with the events that took place september 11th. And have been thinking about it for a long time. I saw the report of the attacks and the subsequent reports of Palestinians celebrations. At the time of the report i hated all Palestinians, however now that I have gotten more information I seem to be just completely disgusted with the people of Israel in general.
The Israeli government continually carries out attacks on Palestinians, over and over again. They confiscaite Palestinian land to expand their territory. And then carry out violent attacks against their leaders. But I still don't understand why Palestinians would dislike Americans, other than the fact that America is responsible for starting this quarrel...  The very next day (12th) 8 Palestinians are killed while Israleli tanks thrust into the town of Jenin and raze their police headquarters. And of course the Israeli justification will always continue to be "they were terrorits" . Time and time again Isralis fucking kill Palestinians even before they have committed or taken any kind of action. I know Palestinians are killing allot of Isralis too for the reason of being a settler on their land. But frankly why settle on their land? If it's thiers why try and take it?! Stop surpressing the Palestinian people, and perhaps they will slowly stop their attacks. Eventually one side has to absorb the last blow.
You can go ahead and delete my account here now. I love goa and psy of course... but i can no longer post here while your country is expoliting another ethnic group causing them to hate me and my country. Not all Muslims are bad. Although there is allot of what i call corruption in some of thier administrations, they can be virtuous people as well... I guess this is why Deedrah says "Fuck You Israel". You all seem to be good people, yet "...one may smile, and smile, and be a villain;" -Hamlet

Trey, rethinking is good for you. Though you seem to been doing it on the hasty side of things.
It is sad for me always to see people fall into playing the games of the big powerlusting people and becoming pawns in their hand. That's what happened to you. So I believe you'll still check this thread. So here are some things to rethink about. You are welcomed here anytime.

1. Any attempt to find who's right in history are futile. You can always go further back in time and find the other side is right. The past is gone. We have the present and we can try and improve it for the future.

2. Most people you'll ask in the streets, weather it be in Israel or the Palestinian authority, will say that all they really want is to live in peace and be able to go to work, have a family, rest in the weekends, and go to the beach. Still the majority of all these people will support acts that will do the opposite.

3. Take any two people in the world, mostly over a cup of good coffee (or chai), they will find common interest and will end up laughing and being friends. I've been around the world a lot- I've tried it myself- it works. It's when they are in groups, and the human on the other side is not really seen and felt, when you forget that that Arab, that Jew, that American, is a person like you, with feelings, and loves, and hurts, that the urge to kill, hurt, destroy arises so easily.

4. It is clearly not in the interest of us simple people to have war. Peace will do us all much better. There's enough in this area to support all who live here, especially if the resources that are being put to war efforts will be put into developing the area.

5. Still there is war, and people supporting it. Who's interest it is to have war here?

6. Who's making the war in the bottom line? That must be the people with interest in doing it. The people that make wars are the "leaders" of the countries. It's people who has the need for power, for controls of others' life, and will do anything to have more and more of it. Sharon is a man obsessed with power- he killed for it and he'll do it again. Arafat is a man obsessed with power- he killed for it and he'll do it again. Bush is a man obsessed with power- hey- it even runs in the family there, and besides, the guy is into cocaine, no?
These people are the people that benefit from war- it builds their power- the people who support them are weapons' manufacturers of course, because they are the ones who benefit most from war. They are also the strongest lobby in the senate and congress of America, the biggest manufacturer and seller of weapons around the world.
I'm not sure how much of this is really on a conscious level and how much of it is in the subconscious of those war supporting people- but it's there. We can all see the outcome.

7. The simple people, who really all just want peace and quiet, are manipulated by their leaders (and it doesn't matter if it's leaders that bought their way to power democratically or leaders who did in another way). They're manipulated using the nationalistic concept which is put over the humanistic concept. Now, as long as the people of the world, who mostly have already came over thinking in "family" or "tribe" or "city" term, and are thinking in "nation" terms, will start thinking in human terms- this will go on and on. So you see, when arguing who's right, the Palestinians or the Israelis or any other group for that matter, you actually argue about who of their leaders is more right, or who should get more power. You argue in the term of the people of power, instead of talking in your terms, the terms of the simple people, that just want to live their lives peacefully.

8. This is why I believe that as there's no chance for myself as a person to change the Israeli government policy, or any government policy, or to make peace in my area, I shouldn't put too much effort and thoughts into that. I should put all the effort I can into thinking in human terms, and into living my life in a way which will reflect what I want to see around me in any thing I do or say. Or in the words of Mahatma Gandhi- "Be the change you want to see in the world".
It's not easy, but I see no other way, so I'm really trying.

Better world is coming- if you believe it- it will happen.

And now really enough of politics and big people talk. Let's stick to something that can get us simple people of the world together- Music :-)

Shahar.

I do agree with you Shahar, and your right about 1 thing, I did post on the hasty side. I wish I hadn't sounded so condeming of the people of this fourm, (that wasn't even my point.. i guess i was just really pissed) because your right, the government is responsible for the war. But Is the government not representing the people though? Perhaps not. You can hardly blame the citizens of a country for the actions of their government. But I do think you could do SOMTHING (politicly) to chage it. Nothing drastic, just write someone high up a letter. They probably won't read it, but if they work anything like the US gov. they will accumulate the opinions expressed in the letter and add it to the public opinion polls. I wish i hadn't said that i wasn't going to post ever again.. cuz Shux u guys are soo cool! And i Miss this fourm allot. The reason i didn't responded faster is because (belive it or not) WHILE i was reading your post and responding to it (dispite what i said previously) my peice of SHIT computer moniter decided it was time to break. So i just got my computer back after paying 1/4 of the value of a new computer to repair it.... sigh... oh well i'll try and forget i ever had the money. How unfortunate it decided to break though AS i was responding... just a few more minutes and...
Please forgive me everyone for alienating you all. My humble apoligies. :'(

i've grown over the pain. its sad, but ive always been tought to only morn for a bit, then get back on track with normal life. i still dont know the well-being of my cousin, i do wish he is ok, but i know he's gone, and it's probably best that way, i mean, if he was stuck down there, or in the ruins.., and alive, i think i personally rather be dead, instead of starving to death.

ive been in a good mood lately, a lot of stuff has been going well, been getting new cds, have a new gf, job is great, school...too damn early in the morning.

im still joining the marines, ive donated money and blood, so besides that, it's time to move on and watch the news every night when i have a chance.

i do wish we could all live in peace, but seems like some have different views on living life.
