Obelizk - I can get a good sounding bass using Vb1 on D-0.
I can post a link to it for you to hear if you like, i can get as low as A-0 before weird stuff starts to happen.

well, i have the same doubt as you friend, i already in past have asked here what is the lowest note i can use.....well in d0 sounds good, but.......just alone....when i play bass with leads, the bass just dont sounds...i tried many different eq's, everything but still sounding bad...the best way is use G0, with notch filter around 150hz sounds perfect to me.. |

I was listening to some Infected Mushroom the other day, some of there newer stuff, and I heard VB1. And it sounded good. So I stayed up last night to try it again. There must be something that they're using that I'm not. Some effect, I was using EQ, Quadrafuzz, RBass (switching on and off), a limiter, and I was messing around with a phaser just to make VB1 sound better after i cut off some high and low freqs lol.

Depends how you make the bassline... if it's a one note playing bassline than it is really hard to get a good sound in the notes D or C (in a very low octave-of course).
If the bassline it's not only one note playing than you can do it with some tricks like playing the notes in octave or putting the accents of the bassline on different note (on a 3'rd of 5'th) and use the D note only as a bridge between accents...etc... There are many many ways.
I personally still use Vb1 but never made a one note playing bassline in a key lower than E or higher than B. The best results i got when i made the bassline in F# , G or A. But this depends of the settings, skills or personal tastes..it's not a rule !
And yes...after so many years Vb 1 still kicks ass
Good Luck !
  NEW ALBUM OUT SOON !!!

D0's fundamental frequency, is 18.35Hz. So say you can actually hear down to 18.35Hz, what speakers have you got that can reproduce that frequency?

if u use a phasor on the bass make sure you use a MonoMaker say all freqs 0-120hz in mono or whatever at the end of the chain and a spectral imager.
