Besides, the raw sound of VB1 is so crappy and it takes a lot of work to make it good.
Why not use another instrument and make it good from the start?

It used to be a gift to the psytrance community 
And its not all that bad, i mean many good tracks has been made using this as a baseline, and it actually sounds pretty good when you process it the right way, But i do agree there are better Synths for making phat bass, Still this one is nice to have and its always good to use it as a comparison for other basses. And you can make other sounds with it, Also its nice to use for other genres!
But generally i also think its been a little overused, Still i dont mind a good track, and it can be done using the Vb1 as bass.
I would use it for a track now days, but i rather experiment with other synths, still Vb1 is a classic! I wonder if Steinberg knows how much this plugin has been used in psytrance, haha
They would probably have a good laugh

Real. I've thought about this too.
Also, when you're at a party and you realize it's VB1, do you really hate the song?
Sometimes if it's processed really nice it'll take me a second to even realize it, then I'm like damn, and just dig it. It's a viable option.
