i think that you don't try enough!
but you can make a good bassline with "tau2" or "v-station" but don't forget the vb1 is more for the full-on style (sillicon sound astrix etc...) if you need a dark or groovie basseline you must use an another plug
enjoy!

Here's my tip,

Use Waves C4 compressor with Waves Q10 Equalizer

basiclly limit the LF at about 35/40hz and the HF at about 7-9Khz depends on how you like it.

and play with the MID from 1Khz to 2-3Khz for the punch

On the instrument you can start with basic synth pattern and the most important thing is to play and practice - good luck - just FYI - you can get a nice bassline with VB - so keep working

Hi Fluor!
I use the VB1 with compressor, eq and (believe) distortion too!!
It gives more punch. Seems similar to Systembuster basses sometimes.
Enjoy!

Hi,

I also had to tweak the VB-1 several hours before I could get some decent bass sound out of it. The thing I did'nt realize in the beginning was the little hadle above the snares, you have to put it as far as you can to the right side. Otherwise your bass won't get very punchy. Besides that I put some eq on it, also a tiny bit of distortion, a LP filter (with cutoff in the middle, resonance 1/3th, I know... not a very good way to describe) and offcourse a compressor. But it's quite hard to get that punchy bass out of it.

VB-1 is a perfect plug-in!

All you need is to know how to equalize it, and give it more fat sounds using maxbass

I have used the VB-1 in a few of my tracks and it is more than possible to get good bass out of it... I would suggest maybe the the synth bass presets for it. EQing is indeed the secret to it... I use Logic, but I slap a hi-cut usually till the click is gone. on it as well as a hi-pass filter with compression of course... Sometimes I use the djeq with the bass boost preset too... I know that doesn't really help you using Cubase, but maybe you can find the Nuendo plugins that correspond to it.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
