After last years compilation named Argo that featured top names of the scene like Bamboo Forest,Total Eclipse,Dino Psaras,Orion and GBU the Samothraki Dance Festival crew delivers us the second part of this series through Oktava Records.
The names appearing on this cd are very impressive indeed so lets press play on our stereo.

Review
01)Wait And See is what i like to call a typical british psychedelic track,there is not something really interesting in it but it has a superb rythm and flow that will make you move your body while listening to it either at home or at the dancefloor.I like listening to this style of music cause you dont get tired of it since there are not many melodies or rythm changes in the tracks.
02)Jean Borelli is one of the trance pioneers and one of my all time favorite artists,his style is unique and the atmosphere in his tracks simply astonishing.Dont Panic is one of those tracks with superb backround sounds,perfect short melodies and continuous flow that will travel you into an outer galaxy.Denmark's finest boy did it for once again.
03)Heres comes another legendary artist.Serge Souque known from his previous work in the Total Eclipse band and now working as The Antidote serves as Apple Q following his usual style mixing full on trance with progressive elements.This is a nice track for home listening with top production quality as usual and some interesting sounds.
04)From the land down under here he comes Australia's most wanted artist,Olli Wisdom with his Space Tribe project.Reverse Time is a powerfull psychedelic tune,a real blaster on the dancefloor with great melodies and sound fx.Cant wait to hear this one on a big sound system.Olli remains a high value in the psychedelic scene.
05)This track is an exciting collaboration between Eat Static and one of my favorite groups Man Made Man.Regen is one of the best morning tunes i have ever heard,great atmosphere and backround pads along with great melodies make this track a real classic.You have to listen to this one guys.
06)When Koxbox played for a Trance Alliance event last June in Athens after their live perfomance Frank'e started his dj set with this track,i didnt knew which track this was but i could never forget its amazing intro.Psycho Drug by Tube has one of the greatest introductions ever,ideal for beggining a dj set.The rest of the track is preety average i guess but it has some really nice moments and worths checking it out for sure.You will get excited while listening to it the first times but sooner or later you will get bored of it i guess.
07)Next there is Koxbox that i guess dont need much introduction.Oscillocore is not their best track for sure,i guess its preety much of an average one.Nice hard kicks and some nice sound fx but nothing more for me here.
08)Finnally we have Prisma which is the only Greek group that appears on this compilation.Running Time is a fast full on track that becomes too noisy in some parts of it.It has nice vocal samples and nice rythm but it is too fast for me.The part that i much liked is on 06:40 when the track becomes more morning oriantated with a nice backround pad melody.Nice try and i would like to hear more tracks from these two guys in the near future.
Phaethon's Voyage is a very very good compilation including some of the best and oldest members of the scene while at the same time features some new talents like the Greek guys Prisma and Tube from Israel.Great work by the Samothraki Festival Team and DJ Marios who compiled this cd.Recommended to everyone.
My favorites are 1,2(!),4,5(!!) and 6.

I still dont have this compilation... but as i can see there is expirienced and legendary good artists so i excpect good results from it. Keep going like this ! |
