Well, seeing as how the other topic was locked, thought I'd give a brief, but at least "proper" review. I had high hopes based on the tracklisting, but found this release to be so-so overall.

The tracks are all fast darkpsy, and would get me moving if I heard them in a dj set. However, while they are certainly not amateurish, most of the tracks on here don't grab me with any particularly notable qualities.

The Kalilaskov AS track is an exception to this-at times the dark atmosphere and especially the pads create a downright apocalyptic atmosphere. However, the track also has an extremely playful passage. Starting at about -5:55 we get a bouncy sound and pads that feel suspicously too pleasant for the track, and at -4:45 this is fully (and briefly) developed with a goofy, simplistic melody totally unlike what one would expect in this style of music.

As many have commented, the Hishiryo track "Stoned Together" is for sure a sick one! Clocking in around 156, which is normally a turnoff for me, the production quality really stands out. The basslines in particular are refreshingly crisp and dynamic, I find that Hishiryo's bass work is consistently among my favorite in darkpsy.

Finally, Animal's "Machine" brings the release to its conclusion. The very nice machinery intro definitely makes you aware that you are about to listen to some crazy shit, and this 165ish track definitely fulfills that expectation. Too fast for me on the dancefloor, I still dig it at home. Again, the production stands above a lot of the darkpsy I've been hearing lately. I hope to hear some slower (say, a tortoise-like 150 ) tracks from Animal in the future.

I wish I had to to give track-by-track, but these are the highlights for me. Again, I find this to be not bad, but not great either. That said, Talos obviously has access to and the taste to put some great tracks out, and I look forward to more releases from Hypnotica.
