I'm a bit lost with the vanguard trancegate automation (pattern) using FL. I can automate it but it just doesn't make any sense. Only time you can control it decently is using midi learn and manipulating the pattern while playing. If I draw something in 'edit events' (trancegate pattern) it looks like it's made ad random. Anyone any experience with it?

Thanks

Its just a stepsequencer. If you hit a bar, the gate is "opened". So its not randomed. Your hands have controll over it. For best results edit a whole note like a pad and switch the trancegate "on".
You will also get nice lines if you are going to use it in combination with the arpeggio, quikly.

uhu..sure, offcourse it's a stepsequencer but my question is: how to change the stepsequencer while it's on, using automation (drawing it). So I don't mean switching it on or off or changing the stepsequencer using your mouse, which is quite easily.

i tried to automate it with cubase, i'ts just didn't make any sence, maybe people at reFX didn't think that somebody would try to automate such things

orange: Cubase is more complex and advanced program, and it great for VST automation too

yeah, let's mix with $2 headphones, sequence 22 kHz samples with DOS trackers, record all this on tapes, and be happy with it, right?
let's just stop this disput, 'cause it's an offtopic, PM if you have something to discuss

@Monstrilla:

Do you see the irony in your posts? First you say: 'don't use FL' (in order to solve the problem), then you start bashing on FL and then ...(how ironic)...it seems that the great magnificent cubase isn't able to solve the problem either! Does it bother you that I use FL? Did I ask for comments or judgements of my personal host? No... If you per-sé want to judge me, judge me on the music I produce and not on the program I'm using. Then, secondly: I've seen cubase and the midi editor (which is about the same thing as the pianoroll in FL) and I must say: give me FL! much easier, especially because I KNOW how to use it quick. I know you can do more and better things in cubase and when I need to do those things, I will. But FL has advantages you obviously haven't discovered yet, shame...

So what's the result of this thread (again!)? A lot of bashing FL, some arguements and in the end nada solution for my problem because, so it seems, it's not the fault of the host! These days it seems impossible to ask a normal question about a vst or some problem if you mention that you're using FL. No, admitt you use FL and some fool finds it absolutely necessary to whine about the fact that you're using it! Who cares what I use? Do you? well sorry mom, won't do it again!
