01. AstroPilot – Out Body Experience
AstroPilot starts this compilation with a well-known DelayLama sound that walks up-and-down. A single percussion line and several acid high tones follow this sequence. After a small shortbreak a nice leading sound created the first melody smoothly mixed into a more higher melody of synthsounds. The whole track tells the same story – no big change until the end, very short breaks and different FX-sounds placed. A nice opener but not very attentional.
02. Becoming.Intense - Dangerous
“Becoming Intense” comes from Brazil and is also known as Diogo C. This track builds up a very weird atmosphere connected to special FX-loops and intrasectional short stories. Some really crude long-faded sounds cross the headroom and enter into considerable pad sounds. The kick brings the whole mood into a surge of emotion. In the middle of the track a recurring theme arrives which knit together with other elemental sounds until the end.
03. Quantum – Stress Machine
Quantum already known baseline starts up the track. Maybe one may think I only speak about his baselines – but what is really gaudy is this baseline and its tone and if you once listened long time to Quantum, you recognize it very easily. It is a bit sad that Quantum don’t proceed in baseline building although this is working perfectly, no doubt, but would be cool to hear some new stories in baselines. Beside this fact, the track is fluid and splendid. Perennial lead sounds and stuttered vocals follow. Remarkable is a changing in melody and baseline octave parallely in several parts of the track which work quite nicely. For the fact of past Quantum tracks, this track is categorized as nothing special or new. L
04. Becoming.Intense – The Scapeline
One more track by Become.Intense which is more stomping than the one before on this compilation. Assisted by a nice hi-hat loop and various short key-sounds it passes into a acid-like tone pattern. In my opinion this would work much better if it would be played more deeper in notes. In this way it sounds really thin and nothing-saying. After the middle of the track again this woman vocal appears which is the same like in Track 2. It doesn’t say the same vocal lines but the woman/vocoder/computer is the same. Then again some sundry sounds and patterns. Very sad because the main character of this track has much more potential as that what is done of it.
05. ManMadeMan - Sidechain
With ManMadeMan a psy-veteran enters the compilation’s part and kicks straight from the beginning after a short padded intro. Experienced arrangement and rough frequencies occur while some always in the backround running arp-sound with the right tone builds the basement. Cool is always the playing between full-on sounds and very minimalistic sounds. Sometime the track stops very shortly and the baseline runs alone with some thing percussion loop together until finally this ends up again in a full-on channel track. This happens for 4 or 5 times until the end of the track. A very pumpy one on the dancefloor !
Recommended.
06. Audio Cactus - BC
Audio Cactus is Claudio Ferreira from Sao Paulo, Brazil. The first 90 seconds of the track is just an acid-intro with usual known TB303 pattern sounds. Then enters a baseline which is fitting very well into this track but compared to other tracks it is a very inoffensive one. The kick has not its final power equally the bass. Beside that fact the story is quite nice.
07. AstroPilot – Guards Of Time
Another one by AstroPilot which is also known as Dmitry Red'ko from Siberia in Russia. Very trancy and emotional intro with female-vocalized chanting. Electric shots in between and percussion crashes. This turns into a lead pattern of an unpowerful sounding. It is again sad there here is not enough dynamic to feel in this lead sonuds. Again some female chanting quite louder and more precisely together with a gating-melody. Maybe the non-dynamic as I call it here is really appreciated by several listeners because I can imagine that it demonstrates the “old-school” goa-sounding from former days. If you search for this – then this compilation has a lot to offer ;-)
08. Reflex – Sapce ID
Reflex aka Micha Yossef is a well-known act in the scene. This track is also goa-fashioned coupled with intensive sync-lead sounds. Very nice legandary synthie sounds and house-like cords fill up the track sometimes visited by a nice pulse-layer of pads. Sometimes also very scratchy and kindly sounds enters.
09. Prahlad - Meditation
Prahlad’s baseline and percussion work is not that special in this track but the melodies are very tasteful and well-placed into the mix. Different melodies build some synergy and rise up in the sky. They get broken by some darker and funded synthie-keys. Prahlad also has the feeling for when starting a melody and when stopping – this brings the track much more forward as excepted.
10. Elysium – The Light
Elysium end up the compilation with a very simple but goa-sounding track. After the 70 seconds intro it starts with some very simple single tones like a baseline-testing sequence. Then it creates a nice mood by adding stereo-delayed vocals and shaker loops. In the middle of the track is has a long break with an uprising pattern-sequence and entering the track again by a soft crash. All sounds are really low-leveled and single structured. I think it is for purpose to keep an unique level because it is absolutely different to noawdays quality pressure productions.
