VA - Rehashed [Boom Records CD19]
Tracklist
01 Talpa - Dragon Tales (Nystagmus Remix)
02 Etnica - Triptonite (Fractal Glider Remix)
03 Babba - Summer Night T. (B.O.T.F.B. Remix)
04 Fractal Glider - Things That Go Bump In The Night (Rastaliens Remix)
05 Rastaliens - Agahouey (Quantum State Remix)
06 Ground Zero - Way To Go (Rastaliens Remix)
07 Rastaliens - Machines and Robots (Quantum State Remix)
08 Rastaliens - Agahouey (Fractal Glider Remix)
09 Rastaliens - Gadget On Acid (Remix)
10 Fractal Glider - Gremlin Chan Remix
... coming soon.
This compilation is a concept remix album featuring Boom Records stable artists and a few friends.
The first track is a remix of Talpas Dragon Tales, a dreamy morning number made even dreamier by the hands of Canada’s Nystagmus.
Track 2 is Fractal Glider's remix of one of the classics of all time "Etnicas - Triptonite". A big hit on the festivals this summer, it is a bang up to date version with rolling baselines and thumping kicks. This tune will be Huge, keep an eye on it. The already legendary melody can't fail to give you goosebumps and a smile from ear to ear.
Track 3 is another morning track, but this time with a sick twist that only the Swedish could provide. A firm beat, some acidic wanderings and a sweet melody. All washed down with a dirty great guitar riff. Got to love the Future Buddhas sense of humour!
Track 4 is a remix of one of the biggest hits on Fractal's last CD, and rocked the dancefloors all over the world. The Rastaliens build on this and give it their own unique treatment, who could resist?
Agahouey was undoubtably the best received track by Rastaliens in 2004, there was a queue of artists for the soundfiles when we were looking for remixers! The best 2 are featured on the CD, a stompy night workout by Quantum State which keeps peaking and peaking, and a more growly morning edition by Fractal Glider. Both feature the ethnic Maori samples and should be checked out.
Track 6 is unashamedly for the night time, a stomper by Groundzero featuring Fear & Loathing samples, remixed to a frenzy by the Rastaliens. Inhale some Ether, take some Mescaline and enjoy.
Track 7 is another remix by the Hungarian duo Quantum State, remixing "Machines and Robots" for us, be scared, be very scared!
In at Track 9 is Inspector Gadget Remix by Rastaliens again. Fun fun fun, and eminently danceable. Never fails to raise a smile and shake an ass.
Last but by no means the least is Fractals freshest track "Gremlin Chan". The result of watching silly 80's films too late at night, this track is not only a euphoric morning trancer, it's a feel good giggler to boot, and a great way to wind down this remix compilation. "Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience" |

Heard Matt BooM play the Fractal Glider remix of Triptonite at Full Moon Festival, and it was surely the highlight of his set. Not as good as the perfect original, but certainly better than most of the new remixes of classics (Astral Projection – Ten is probably the best example).
Should be an interesting release. BooM! as a label still stands out, regardless if you like their stuff or not. Luckily they haven’t been influenced by the new “neo-full-on” generation. DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Some boring crap probably.
Anyhow, this V.A. looks more like "Rastaliens and friends". I also heard the remix of Triptonite on FMF 2004 and I second pr0fane's opinion - a goodie indeed.

apart from the awesome triptonite rmx, the fractal and rastaliens rmxs of eachother's tracks are excellent too... it's released in about 2 weeks time
neo-full on was the "in thing" (think turbo trance, transient, nano etc etc) about 6 months ago but now everyone seems to be bored of it already
I said no to drugs... but they didn't listen |

Thanks for your encouragement and reactions guys, its much appreciated
This cd was a long time coming, but we are pleased with the results. And for anybody thats old enough to remember the film "Gremlins", the last track should make you giggle as much as it does for us !
Peace Out,
Matt |
