Info:
Michael Mayer clearly doesn't like to rush things - some eight months following the initial announcement of his follow up to 2002's highly influential 'Immer' mix, the finished product has finally arrived. And luckily for all involved, it was worth the wait. Taking Kompakt's 'minimal pop' philosophy to new levels, each track here oozes melody and feeling, whether it's the crackling, haunting whirl of Someone Else's 'Ploosh', or the barnstorming noveau-disco of Todd Terje's remix of Lindstrom's 'Another Platform'. Meanwhile, artists like Crowdpleaser and Brooks jostle amiably alongside Kompakt mainstays Justus Koehncke and SCSI-9, with pleasingly coherent results. Considerably less dark and gothic than its predecessor, it's an invigorating snapshot of one of Europe's most popular DJs, and exemplifies minimal's continual evolution towards a fuller, more realised musical experience.
