Hmmm...I just read this thread, and would like to offer some words on behalf of my husband, Mind Distortion System, and as co-labelhead at Lycantrop Records. Very few labels are making money these days, and artists are in an even worse position. When DNI asked Nelson to participate on the v.a., he said yes because it was for a good cause. We don't know the ins and outs of local politics...we did not even know about the Technodrome situation before that. He does not normally give tracks for free, but we saw some other trusted names were on the tracklist (Silent Horror is also a Lycantrop artist, for example), and DNI promised that Shai had given full support...from the record label perspective, I admit that we also thought from the very beginning, there probably won't be any profits for the poor guy, but hey...you never know! I guess what I am trying to say is, of course the release is more about promotion than profit because the chances of the latter are minimal. That does not, however, necessarily negate the good intentions of anyone involved. As for intentions: inside our flimsy little ego-shells lies the Truth that only we know. I propose giving those involved the benefit of the doubt, if for no other reason than to reduce the total planetary negative energy balance.
;-))
By the way: to whoever made the comment about Fruity Loops, if you were referring to the MDS track, he uses Cubase...but I can understand how you might have got the wrong idea. Hehe

keira, the reason why this compilation did get the negative feedback was because people believed a good intention was overshadowed by the promotional aspect. Now Ultravision seems to have no lack of promotions given the mass of releases they have in the pipeline, so it just makes you wonder why this CD was created in the first place.
Again, this is the tough customer speaking. I'd buy the compilation as a drop of a hat if I knew that the money was going directly for a good cause. But pay for a CD when a distro is going to take a 50% cut? No thanks... because I wouldn't be buying this CD if it was a regular release anyway.
This is just the mindset of a potential buyer. IMO... I find the psytrance community negative about the fact that they cannot make the music business model work.
Anyway, heard that Technodrome is back in Isreal so raising funds to get him out of India seems irrelevant.
Whats the goal now ?

man... forget this debate. it's pretty clear that we're both living in very different worlds. or should i say another universe. would be reassuring to get some details from technodrome though.
