Cold Groove Records is a new label with great future I must say. Blending techtrance with psy trance and progressive, never too hard or twisted, more gentle and deep. Comes from Canada this one and is compiled by Dj Yeb.
Mastered by Son Kite.

tracklist:

1.Luna Spice - Melodeep (into mix)
2.Sigh - Giftwrap
3.Tetraktys - Cold Blue
4.Midi Miliz aka Spirallianz - Irreflexive (main mix)
5.Axiomata - Concentration (Tetraktys RMX)
6.Metalogic vs Michael Lawrence - Industry Standard
7.Nuclear Ramjet - Internal Fusion 3.021
8.Axiomata - New Normal (Sub bass mix)

REVIEW:

The frosty journey starts with a great great track by french Luna Spice. Gentle track, with charming sutile melodies over a great groovy percussive work makes this a sweet start. Then comes Sigh wich is a side project of Tetraktys and his friend ISMS with the track Giftwrap. I like this one also, it has this nice melancolic atmosphere surrounding a simple yet effective progressive structure.
In the 3rd spot u will find Tetraktys - Cold Blue. Since its the same producer of track 2, u can expect the same vibe and production, but Cold Blue has more energy and story in my opinion and lifts u perfectly to the middle of the cd that is more energetic and hard. After that comes the "meisters" Midi Miliz, with another bomb, this time called Irreflexive. Deep and sad like always but less agressive then their last Ep. THEn comes another work by Vincent (Tetraktys), he remixed a track from label manager guy Axiomata. Another killer track I must say, same style as previous Vincent trax yet not cliche. Deep techtrance.
Track 6 and 7 are the hardest ones in the cd, 6 spot is Metalogic feat. Michael LAwrence. This one is that kind of track u find in a psy release yet there are no psy elements at all inside. YEt it can be played by a psy tech trance dj in some point of their sets. Im not very fan of very minimal tecnho trance so this track doesnt say much to me, but its a good production though...better then most guys doing the same for trance releases. Nuclear Ramjet track also is not my cup of tea. But since Im a huge fan of their music I will give credit for the sounds. I like their mixes. Internal Fusion is a chaotic dark track for sure , also not very psy but i think it shall please the ones interested.
Last track is Axiomata`s New Normal (subbassmix) , I think this track is fucking great in the concept and ideas, but it fails a bit in the mix and maturity of the arrangement, but still i like the track.

BOTTOM LINE:

Im happy to see new labels with unique concepts emerging from trance chaos...Cold Grooves show the listener a dark yet gentle, atmospheric and melancholic, clear and frosty fresh techno housy trance concept inside a psy cloak. All with gooood taste!

Fav. trax - 1,2,3,4,5 and 8

This cd rocks and my brain to..

It has a sequence of track like the arise compil....Deep, prog.....tech trance

The luna track is a good beginning track, more I listen it more I return inside

The side collaboration tetrak project track ( Sigh--Track 2) is very good 2, It's like a track realize by a tetrak fan with a another touch, it posed and mature realization.....

My fav track is the track 8, Axiomata - New Normal (Sub bass mix)---it's a fucking great track...The history, the break with the return of the fat bass is "enormooooooooooooooooooooone" , and the interference noise at the end of the track catch your belly and your mystic spirit....
My fav 2004 track...

I don't understand the Setharian coments about the fails arrangement....maybe it's because i listen it in a little old hi-fi and bad resolution....

I really liked this comp.. picked it up a while ago, but never got arround to writing a review on it..

The first track by luna spice really gets you in the groove.. its that new psy-housy sound they've started making, but IMO, the best track they've made in a while.. much better than the stuff on the album..

The next two tracks are quiet soft for my tastes and don't really lead anywhere, but nice sounding none-the less..

Then comes the masters at work once again.. These two guys are on fire with a sweat, fresh new sounding track (i didn't hear the binary remix yet).. It sounds alot more like Spirallianz stuff then midi miliz, but whatever..lol.. crashing hats, sweet bassline, soft, but hard at the same time.. more proggy than usual. GREAT..

Then comes the remix by tetraktys.. they sure make up for that first bad track on the album with this beautiful minimal progressive track.. i really dig its hardness and have been playing it over and over in my sets.. i didn't hear the original to compare, but im sure it was just as good..

Metalogic throws down a loopy techno track, lots of distorsion in the bassline, very hard to mix, but i love it.. his sound is quiet unique and i hope the album sounds alot like this.. too short....

As for the last two, well, i already had the nuclear ramjet track on an EP previously released.. its a great minimal track.. nice sample, and it goes on and on.. hehe..

the last track is ok.. didn't reach out to me..

i'd recommend this comp for people that like proggy techtrance music..

Keep it up Coldgroove crew.. Canada Reprezentz..

this is a great progressive cd, very laid back but still with a few stompers, all have nice grooves with bouncy basslines

Excellent compilation !
Stylish and very listenable.
Favorites: Midimiliz,Metalogic, Sigh.
Great sound and good choice for the mastering engineers.
I think Paste could contribute to this V/A too!
Groovy,melancolic ,grey Canadian psychedelic mood.
Reminds a lot of what we liked when we started with Boshke .
Good Luck to Dj Yeb and all his crew!
