This is the ninth release of Geomagnetic.TV, this time together with Geo Israel, which I think to be the Israeli branch of the Geomagnetic International label family. It comes in the digipack format and inside it you can find the bpms to all of the tracks. The compiler is DJ Spazzz.
Cover and CD artwork was created by Dr. Spook and shows 3D images from the Geospirit DVD: a spaceship powered by music, astral projection bodies floating in front of the sound system, crazy mushroom guys and robots on the dance floor and an alien DJ.
The mastering was made by Chromatone and the engineering by Ross Dubois (Random).
01. Guinea Pigs - How To Get By in The U.S. --> The music begin at 151 bpm, with a Guinea Pigs track that is interesting. I usually don't like music above 150 bpm, but this is an exception. The music has a good atmosphere, it's danceable and has funny samples:
"- I'm sorry, I do not speak English OK...
- But you were just talking...
- Yes, yes, hot dog, hot dog, yes sir, no sir, maybe, ok..."
There are too many noises some times, but other than that it's a good night trip.
02. Dark Force - Cow Hypnosis --> Synths and effects twisting the mind, weird stereo work, bass filling the empty space and distorted samples breaking the ice: that's the recipe to the Cow Hypnosis. I'm happy that the cow is hypnotized after these 148 insane bpms, because I need some milk.
03. Energy Loop - Like a Walk in The Park --> This track is cleaner than the previous one, using fewer effects, with more focus in placing every element on its place. It has an industrial feeling and some few bass variations; to me it is an average track.
04. Audiopathik - Speak of the Devil --> We're back in the depths of the darkness. Crazy stuff here, different and full of twists. The 148 bpms doesn't sound that fast, the synths sounds good on the background. The end is nice, but seems like another average track.
05. Clockstoppers - Room Function --> Another fast stomper, 150 bpm, unusual kicks and turns, a bunch of bass lines and fast spoken samples... I don't know what the hell is that, but should work on the dance floor. Some people may think I'm going crazy, but in spite of the zillion breaks it is somehow groovy... Good track!
06. PZ2-x3.1p2 - Des Trip Laids --> Well, that's the project name that's written inside the digipack... This is a collaboration Electrypnose, Zapata and Elendis. Of these three producers I only know Electrypnose, he is a versatile musician. In this nice piece of music these guys present us a night trip at 148 bpm. It has a phantasmagoric atmosphere, I like it.
07. Dark Force and Spazzz - Darkness and the Spirit --> Spazzz, the compiler of this release, joined forces with Dark force to produce one of the good tracks inside this darkish release. Being fast and energetic, this track is a good ride, full of twisted samples at 150 bpm, it is another good track.
08. Electrypnose vs Energy Loop - Don't Kill Me --> The sample at the start said it all: "Don't let him kill me..." The guys are not kidding, one fierce bass after another: 150 bpm of ever-changing music, maybe it's the best way to describe it. Good one!
09. Darknoizz vs Cosmical - Lost Pick Up --> Darknoizz is a collaboration between Tsabeat and Energy Loop. I must admit I never heard about Cosmical before. The music is a bit slower, "only" 146 bpm. There is a guitar-like synth in the background (really in the background), also it's a little more melodic than the previous tracks. Everything is distorted giving a dissociative feeling to this track (whatever this means). This track got some points for the originality.
10. Mindstorm vs Twisted Reaction - Civilysergia --> Mindstorm is no one else than Dr. Spook the MWMN (Man With Many Names). Or should it be many jobs? VJ, producer, label manager, teacher, DJ and so it goes... Twisted Reaction (Edvin Alperavitch) is an Israeli who just released his debut (Twisted Reaction - Action!) on GeoMagnetic.TV, with a remix to this track, I think I prefer this version. This is much more "full on" than the previous tracks, a weird way to close an otherwise "dark" compilation.
Recommendation: This was made for the ones who enjoy fast night music. As happens with many dark releases, I feel that some times in some tracks there are too many sounds at the same time and that the overall production quality could be better. The album has 10 tracks, more than 74 minutes of music. Weirdly enough, in my opinion the faster tracks here are the best, we're talking about half of the compilation. Looks like a good deal for the ones who enjoy the dark side of the psy.
Favorites: 1, 5, 6, 7, 8.

the track of my paisanos Audiophatik is the best (¿or beast?); this cd is one of my favorites I love this compilation; good job to geomagnetick and all the dj´s

You know whats funny is that Spazzz considers this a "Morning" Comp full of Morning fluffy blasters...
he insisted that is was a MORNINGSTAR collaboration as opposed to a DARKSTAR release...
(our two label flavors)
I said well if this is what you listen to at your parties in the desert in the morning out in Psychedelic fun land... then so be it... =) lets call it MORNING MUSIC =)
I have spoken with quite a few who have various takes on this... what is "morning music" etc...
so I guess compared to "true trauma trance" that is best heard at night this is a lot more fluffy... but I admit its much darker flavored than most GEOMAGNETIC - MORNING STAR compilations..
but no worries.... the tracks speak for themselves.. =)
