All I can say is don't use yousendit or megashare or any of these places... there are much better ways to get files around the net.

No me neither, my best advise is to use personal server, or if you have a website use the extra space for file transferring.

@Fregle .. Not everyone has the FTP space or the server... So we thought yousendit was the best thing .. But then now we know its not ..
I feel artist should contribute and get webspace for themselves and keep it secured ..
Cheers ..

The reason why some of us would use something like you send it is due to us not having the proper web space or a personal FTP to have stuff on. If anyone wants to kick down some web space for a personal ftp, I'd love to have that. I am really unnerved to hear that yousendit.com isn't a reliable source. I heard some rumors, but without proof it's like reacting to misc. gossip. Sending cds the old fashioned way may work for you, but not neccesarrily for everyone, and now in a digital age, you should be able to have some sort of security to send what files you need to for cheap if not free... I don't like sending stuff on msn, any of those type of programs... Hell, I barely even get on there, but I do like the idea of a personal server to get access to.

Why don't you just encrypt the files? |

you will find many webhosting solutions on the internet .. for as cheap as USD $3 per month with more than enough bandwidth. Next, you encrypt your files (password protect or whatever method you like), host them on the server. Give the link to the people and you are set. Ofcourse you have control over the links too. You can always make a certain file is made unavailable once the opposite person has recieved the file/track.
Also, I think, there is a way to encode wave files with a signature. This will not help reduce track leaks, but definately help in closing in on persons leaking tracks. But, something to look at.
my 2 cents ..

I get something like a terabyte of bandwidth every month, and 20 gigs of space... it costed about 30 USD for the whole year. Any artist looking to promote themselves would be smart to get a professional demo online in wave format. Passward protection on web space is always an option for those concerned about material being leaked, although frankly, that is probably the best promotion one can get...
