I think V for Vendetta is one of the most intellectually stimulating film i have seen in awhile...the film is so realistic...i mean if you are an anarchist like me then this is a must watch...i mean i love the scene where they blow up the British Parliament and using Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture with fire crackers its just too fukin unbelievable...the sad thing is when the film was released in the US in 2005 all those who went to see the first day shows were put on a FBI watchlist and that detered a huge percentage of people. when i bought my dvd of this flick las april or something the Border's sales guy told me that it would be better to shoplift that DVD than buy it freaked me out

Doughcherry dont know who told you about this thing with the FBI watchlist but it is a joke just like the guy at the Border's sales.
Not only you dont give your name in order to buy cinema tickets in the USA (so noone knows who is in the cinema) but also it is absolutely impossible for the FBI or the CIA or the KGB or i dont know who else to put in a watchlist thousands of people that watched this movie in the first day on its USA release.
And ofcourse apart all these there is no point in putting in a watchlist people who go to watch a movie.
Anyway concerning the movie its a nice and original one but it could have been little bit better.

I think that it's a decent movie at best, a childish version of the classic overhashed Orwelian-for-Americans style, hell, doesn't deserve Orwelian... Gilliam-for-Americans style. And as someone that doesn't try to define himself as part of any group or as NOT part of one (which is exactly the same thing), I can say that this movie is the most overrated film ever (ok, slight exaggeration, that honor belongs to Requiem for a Dream).
Want intellectually stimulating? See 1984, or better yet, read the book. Much more depth and power to it. |

One of the best paranoid movies ever. I really like Portman and Weaving's acting there. It did lack some depth as Kaz mentioned but it's a cool movie anyway.
