Positive Alchemists 2 (Avigmatic)

tracklist:

1 Miditec vs. Cosmic Station - Sirius Black (7:26)
2 Wavelogix - Sonic Mirage (7:46)
3 Avigmati feat. Melodix - Sunrise Legend (7:20)
4 Life Extension - Junk Food (9:11)
5 Intersys - Dreams (7:18)
6 Space Buddha - Focus Land (7:32)
7 Opium Of The Masses - How Stars Work (7:18)
8 Electric Universe - Age Of Light (6:13)
9 Lhucid & Electrypnose - Predefined Value (Electrypnose Remix) (6:58)
10 Azriel - Ce Soir Sur La Plage (5:15)

1> I was expecting some sweater stuff for starting, it's not the case with this boisterous, grinding production which i'm not a big fan. I'm even a bit surprised of it from Cosmic Station as i keep a good memory of Ohm Station. Nonetheless The presence of Miditec (ex Beathackers) must have a preponderant impact on the result here according to me.

2> The start is pretty nice in airy refreshing with his style, the following tries to maintain the intensity but gets lil repetitive on the end. Globally it's interesting to see what production comes from India, I hope the production scene will continue to grow there & i think Wavelogix (Chandan Sabarwal) is in the good wagon. I hope to listen to new stuffs from Wavelogix in order to check his potential & progress in the future.

3> Avigmati (Dj Chaï & Khetzal who are owners of the Avigmatic label & also the compilers of the cd) have kept the receipe of their first track released on Positive Alchemist 1: a goaish full with french spoken sampes well placed & matching naturely in the tune although this time the feeling is a bit less frenetic but still raving.

4> I've heard a lot of good things on Life Extension ( a french duo composed of Dj Olive & Dj Stenman) but that's only the first track i've listened from them. Junk Food reveals a real genuine construction not Junk Music at all. A single flat concerns 2-3 synths, at 4'40, 7'10 or 8'10 which sounds a bit cheap to me but you forget it very quickly caught by the attractive tune's flow .

5> Intersys (Omri Azram & Mark Faskovich) are unknown to me upto this track, they've been released recently on PsyTropic recently though. Here we've got a classic israeli Full On production lost in the releasing immensity of this kind of production oftenly caracterized by a lack of originality.

6>Space Buddha isn't a newcomer on the scene nevertheless it's the first time i'm listening to him. This first meeting with this artist is quite conclusive with Focus Land. The opening is specially enjoyable: sweet & floating. This artist seems to have developped a nice capacity for providing melodies & postive energy as what i've checked here. Else it's a little pity on the end that the tune gets more & more squeaking & shrill with leads typical from Beat Hackers who i was referring at the beginning of the review.

7> Opium Of The Masses is the result of the collaaboration between Space Buddha & Vik Shefi 'aka (Cyber Cartel, Intergalactic). They propose with How Star Work, a kind of israeli full on i dig. It's what i call Groovy-Full On, it represents somehow a rather soft Full On tune in his tones or more precisely in his energy & intensity. Indeed it's not the total frenzy, it's something more subtle, dreamy, emotionnal; something constrasting with the dominant high energy boisterous & griding more usual Full On.

8> Time for the blast in Age Of Light : a strong energy married with old school influenced melody, veteran Boris Blenn hyper productive as always, brings here for the climax of the compilation. If i make a swift flashback of all his production , i would rank this song among the Top 5 from Electric Universe which could include others stuffs such as The Prayer, Astral Voyage, One Love & Solylun for example.

9>Concerning Lhucid (Eliss Engborg) 'Predefined Value' remixed by Electrypnose, it reminds me Etnica - Triptonite. I feel it, personally, like a dancefloor version of what was an old school & zen production made by Etnica & not a bad version tough more than a remix of Predefinied Value which i never heard btw.

10> About zen, it's time for the chill. And the official Avigmatic chill artist appointed by the label to close their compilation is the canadian Azriel (David Lebossé) since the first compilation. 'Ce Soir Sur La Plage' in french in the text means 'Tonight on the beach'. End of summer hollydays feeling , it's a like a gathering around a wooden fire on the beach with a barbecue & some local friends with the sunset as background vision. It's like the peaceful last hours before a cruel come-back to Metro-Working-Sleeping.

The quality of Positive Alchemists arises in this second volume compared to the first one with still a melodic direction, colourful & electic; so if you got the first don't hesitate to pursue the second & vice-versa. At last, some words about the artwork made by D Zen, like for the first compilation, you'll be certainly very pleased with it if you're fond of the typical goa multi & flashy colourful design like me.
