Juice is the first mixed compilation realized & selected by Ari Linker (Alien Project).
First tune a is long one, the major problem is when it’s long you got to fill in the track or will be quickly flat & boring. Honestly, there are some things happening but by time i’ve got the impress it's pure fillin. The musical content is tribal/groovy-full on & is resulting average.
Before speaking about Juvenile’s track (a good one), some words about the Ari’s skills mixing.
First of all i don’t dig into mixed cd, but i can recognize when there’s a good job done but here it’s not the case: absolutly no beatmaching.
The Predator is a fast stuff, very punchy with lots of madness, seems that the younger brother of the Riktam familly getting better than his older brother.
Alernate Vision (Johan Kraft formerly member of Logic bomb), goes on delivering kinda habitual Logic Bomb production, harmony is fatter & with some claps in the rythmn at the end which surprises me a lot.
I was making a nice idea of discovering a new D-tek track unfortunatly , Los Dorados is done with the ‘everywhere everytime appearing’ GMS. There are some kinda electric greasy metal guitar riffs which are very cheesy & butchered the melody. There’s also a childish sample of the hero tv cartoon fastest mouse of the world ‘Speedy Gonzalez’ «Hungry, hungry - hariba, hariba », at the end of the track this same voice (it's maybe Pancho this time the lazzy's Speedy cousin) sings the traditionnal mexican song ‘Cielito Lindo’.
About the rest, what to say, the orion’s track is quite groovy with funny sounds better than all the recent production from this guy i’ve heard.
Uncle Bob, Tied Up (remix), Genetic Engineers, People Can Fly (remix), Enjoy have all been released elsewhere (& may be Juvenile’s & Alternate Vision ‘s ones also but i didn’t know them before) .
Would have be better to propose a mix with more recent or unreleased stuff for the interest of the compilation furthermore i recall it Ari Linker isn’t a good Dj.
Verdict : no mark, could only interest people who are into mixed & don't have the already released stuffs mentionned or perhaps for those who are searching for new tracks from Juvenile,Orion & Alernate Vision but that's all. |
