The review:

Another compilation filled with south-african style psytrance. Will it ever end?? Hehehe After a tip from Zion Linguist (thanks buddy) that this would be out soon and his newest track was on it, I decided to order it and it arrived shortly thereafter. So, here's my take on this.

Track 1: Artifakt at it once again. It begins very dramatic with synths and at around 1:25 a bassline and beat come in. Lots of effects follow ofcourse, standard Artifakt issue. It all sounds a bit weird and techno-like. Nice work on the melodies too. The last part from 07:00 and onwards is just crazy Anyway, way better than his other relatively new track "What Is Psychedelic?" and if anything, this shows that Artifakt still has the stuff. Great track.

Track 2: We start off with atmospherics. A dark bassline soon sets in. Some sampling, and we're off. The song manages to build up a nice flow and it reminds me a bit of Xatrik actually. Nice track.

Track 3: Hydraglyph is up next, and most people will know what they're about. Kick-ass tracks, that's what. They've opened up a can of whoop-ass again on this one. We start off with some atmospherics and samples and soon the track is beginning to build. Massive leads, a great bassline and a good finale. It's what you'd expect and Hydraglyph delivers. Great stuff.

Track 4: Starting with atmospherics again, then the acidic swirling noises coupled with bassline and kick and yeah, I'm liking this! Great sense of flow in this one, the bassline really manages to drive it on. Some samples, but the relentless pounding bassline and acidic melodies really drive this one home. Great track.

Track 5: Rabdom L, another oldtimer in this scene. Hard stuff this one. Acidic to the bone, great sense of psychedelia. A nice melody, hammering bassline (with keychanges ofcourse) and overall a great feel. Nice one, another winner. Aptly titled too, this one will set dancefloors on fire, especially near the end. Crazy

Track 6: And so we come to the new Zion Linguist track. It was suggested to me by Zion Linguist himself to check this one out. We start off with some atmospherics and muffled kicksounds. A filtered bassline and then it's off. Nice work on the bassline. I wonder if we'll get some of the trademark percussion again? And yup, it soon sets in.
Nice work on the melody throughout the track, it gets in your head after a while. At the end the melody stays the same but it's played with different sounds. Nice track, not really a wild one, but it's pretty psychedelic

Track 7: Harder stuff again. Has a deep bassline and the sounds seem to fly out of the speakers. A little weirder than previous tracks. Gets quite wild near the end and it has lots of samples from the movie Red Dragon. Good track.

Track 8: Atmospherics again, more haunting and electronic this time. It suits the name of the artist, hehehe. Anyway, Noiseanomalie had a great track on the "What Is Psychedelic?" compilation, a really hard one at that. Here he begins a little softer it seems, but that simple bassline is soon replaced by a pounding one. Great stuff and the song proceeds to become very wild indeed. Not one for the fainthearted. An electric guitar sample comes in, but for remarkably enough it's not overdone or sounding cheesy. Nice track.

Track 9: A sample from 28 Days Later if I'm not mistaken, and we're straight off with this one. Pretty standard bassline, nice acidic melodylines running throughout, lots of effects and hey, another good track. Nice one.

Track 10: Starting off with some more atmospherics. Soon the bassline and kick take over. Acidic lines swirl throughout the track, some muffled samples and then some more bassline changing and we're off once again. This track hasn't a massive finale, but since it's quality throughout this one is great as well.

Conclusion time: So there we have it. A damn fine compilation. This one really is great, there are no downers on this one. If you even remotely like South African styled psy in the vein of Timecode, MMD, Nexus Media or labels like those, you'd do yourself a big favor picking it up. And with a playing time of over 79 minutes you'll certainly get a disc full of money well spent. Stellar stuff. 9/10 from me here and I expect to be listening to this quite some time.
