I was also wondering about it when I thought to decorate parties. a while ago I painted a big long for "dark soho" logo (which was stolen from the party). I also did some paintings using acrylic flouro paint which gives great results in flouro light.

I'll guess there're no rules with it. just paint with whatever you feel that is right and fits your painting. either acrylic floro paint, those cheap floro spray colors, or even goache floro paint but make sure it's well dry before the party =) cause goache can be dry from the outside and yummi from the inside.

as for the fabric, i just used a simple big black one. of course you'd have to put the "jesso" material on the part you want to paint so you could paint directly on it without getting the paint drowning to the other side and loose lots of time and paint.

others might have other methods but that's what I used whihc was fast, easy and fun.

Jesso is that white sticky material painters smear on fabrics to make the fabric thicker and to avoid paint lose.

when you buy a prepared canvas which is usually a bit more expensive the jesso is already smeared on the canvas so you have no need for that.

however if you paint on different types of fabric then you have to put jesso on it. it's usually a white color only but you can mix any color with it to match your fabric.
