(Here you go, Kyle)

Utage was one of the most majical parties I've been to. And, strangely, I think it was the shitty weather that really contributed to the mystique. It never rained heavily whle I was about, but it was always cloudy, foggy, drizzly, wet, cool, breezy.... The party was beside this mountain lake, and the clouds usually hung very low in the valley, making our world appear very closed and personal. The greens and beiges of the gentle valley walls seemed so bright in contrast to the dull greys of the lake and sky. The main stage went from dawn to dusk on Sunday, and dawn to afternoon on Monday - which is different than typical parties (I don't recommend that schedule for a typical deathly muggy Japanese summer day - due to those using candies - but in autumn at 1500m, it was perfect).

I'm generally a full-on freak, so that was another interesting aspect for me - this was a a new musical space for me. I can't say I've been fully converted or anything, but the sound was at least refreshing and enjoyable. Because another 2-night event was coming up the next weekend(VQ), I tried not to kill myself so I took it easy and let my body do as it pleased. Unfortunately, that meant I slept-in through 3 acts I was really hoping to catch (Stress Assissin, Peter Didjital and, especially, Son Kite - Sorry Seb!- I was there for your DJ team grooves though - nice mixes!).

The beauty of being at a mainly proggie party, for me, was that when the Full-on sound came on, it really blew me away. Total Eclipse have really found a special way to make people move (physically and otherwise). I was very impressed. Stef lives up to the name Digital Mystery Tours, for sure. And what a tour they gave.

Atmos - I really like some of his groovy prog tracks (Klein Aber Doctor, Qualitat Im Quadrat, etc...) but I honestly couldn't enjoy his live set too much. It just wasn't psychedelic enough. And the structure work wasn't really psy. Dissappointed, actually (but my girlfriend loved it.)

Double Dragon - thumbs up. He's been listening to X-Dream, for sure. Good sound. Psy enough.

Emok - this dude gave a really good set. And He seemed like such a decent guy. These Scando dudes all seemed really kind and down to earth. Great vibe. Looking forward to Phony Orphants live at the Down Under Eclipse!

This was also the party that kept the dance floor free of garbage. That was sweet. Also, there were about about 100 clean, cozy bungalows that they gave out for free with a group of 4 advance tickets. Now that's cool. Each complete with a huge pile of futons and comforters and electricity!

Attendence - about 1500 lovely people (and unfortunately at least one ugly one, but hey, not bad).

Thanks Utage. Majik!

nice review kaatisu. Thanks. I didnt have the chance to go to any parties this year. I have been back in LA where for some reason there was not one Psy party going on the whole time i was there.

Thanks Kurtis

Everyone seems to have really enjoyed that party, It looked like an amazing location on the flyer. IT is good to hear that some people are kind enough to give out free accomodations and such, next year i definitely hope to attend this party
