Does any body know if applying this to audio objects reduces cpu usage?           http://soundcloud.com/djkiva

In a way it might - if you cut alot of audio silence that was supposed to be played.
But it's really nothing compared to some VST cpu usage.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

strip silence is good for "less job" for the hard disk.
The hard disk dont need read the silence into your wave.

I use this for "gate" the real instruments or for a kind of recycling. This operation dont clear the orginal file but be carefull.
Is also good when you dont have a 7200rpm hard disk......
