Hey, I love a good psychedelic trance festival as much as the next guy, but I can't help but think about the carbon footprint we stamp into the Earth in the name of hedonism. Not only are we pouring gasoline into generators all night to keep an absurdly powerful sound system running,

- the sound system is not absurdly powered...
a hair dryer can use as much as a small sound system...

proper wind generation or solar installations are probably permanent and not mobile.
while hydrogen fuel cells (hey they dont need platinum anymore- they can use goretex for a catalyst these days... anything goes) provide a great storage technology for electricity off the grid (in vehicles for example)
the means of creating that electricity in the first place is less mobile...

for permanent party sites and for creating massive power for your village, with plenty to sell back to the grid, may i recommend something like a couple 3.6 megawatt siemens wind generators- enough power for something like 8,000 homes... hairdryers and all...

they also make nuclear power plants but i dont recommend. the technology is dirty and the end result is nuclear waste...

wind power...

probably there is someone making a portable wind rig with tens of kilowatts of capacity suitable for a party but you would need the right location (a top of a ridge for example)

we are also driving cars great distances (at least here in north america) to attend these gas guzzing fests.

I know, I know, I don't want to think about it either; I'd love to just dance and trip and have fun, but there are very serious things happening to our world. The Hopi elders believe that one must always act with consideration for the next seven generations...most trancers (including myself) only act with consideration for the next 5 minutes, lol.

If we continue on this path our legacy will simply be that of any other music scene. Though perhaps if we took a more meaningful and eco-centric approach, we'd end up as not just another music scene, but a movement! If we focused on ecologically sound means of generating power for our wild drug fueled orgies of shamanic ecstasy, perhaps we'd be more welcome in places where trance festivals are currently NOT welcome. And maybe people who were in attendance would learn more about alternative energy sources at workshops and then spread that information to all their square friends back home. And maybe....just possibly...our scene would flourish, and bind us all closer together. I love having this global network at my fingertips, and I don't want it to die off; I don't know about you guys, but i feel like we're in the peak (this is where all the old goa dudes can inform me that it peaked quite a while ago).

How do we want to reassemble ourselves as the trip begins to wane?

notice the wind turbines in this video... curious to know whether they used that power.

There are a lot of people that claim that the clean technology is already here. The problem is that it is been suppressed by certain special interests to keep the oil prices rising $

check this out:

that guy is also responsible for the disclosure project where all these high ranking officials came out together to disclose all the ufo info. It is very compelling, look it up.

i totally belive bout the oil diplomacy & that's y i think that rising oil prices will be the begining of the end for this diplomacy           the problem with valuing art is, till u dont understand it, it's worthless but wen u do understand it, it's priceless!!

the new problem is lower oil prices...it means that oil companies make less profits which means people get less on their investments which means lowered spending which in turns spills into recession...so now we have a problem           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

I firmly believe that people with doughcherry's attitude will be the end of the world...

Regarding some super power source that will function (almost) everywhere, i would like to lead your attention to the Kite-plant... A wind energy source that will be around as long as we are alive. The idea is to send a small squadron of kites very far up, where wind is constant, and use their pulling force to produce energy. Rocks ! At least i see some potential there... Its still on the experimental level, but im shure we will see some soon...

As for bio-diesel, the idea is nice, however facing the food-crisis, maybe its a bad time to start putting your vegetables in your gas tank... On the other hand, food-oil recycling could help on this...

As much as i'd like to find a solution to clean parties, i doubt that "we" will be the ones who find it (also counting the burning-men).

Im currently planning to convert a diesel generator to vegetable oil (not bio-diesel).

If we dont take some conciusness and actions to fix the problem, the human raze will become extinct, is simply as that.

Anyone read the inform by an English guy Stern?

It ways that even in the most optimistic predictions the escenario for 2070 is almost catastrophic.

And for those guys syaing somebody hides green tech for making oil prices high, that is out of logic. Oil prices are rising as it is the more eficient form of produce energy in cost/produced energy rates. because today oil prices are so high sales of big cars are falling from the sky, Ford, GM and chrysler are in heavy crisis and toyota and honda are introducing hybrid and soon hidrogen cars.

Also beacuse of that all across europe an interest in nuclear energy has reborn and new plants are beeing building. Maybe you have heard about the ITER? a super reactor that will use fussion, todays reactors use fission, and will be the most expensive project on human history. if succesful it will produce many many times the energy of a single nuclear plant.

Oil prices rising is a good thing in many ways, specially as it opens the oportunite to many other forms of energy and alternatives to some products produced eith oil, like ferttilizants, clothes, medicines, etc.

i dont think it is still possible to store & safely produce fusion energy & does'nt seem possible in the very forseeable future as well!

i think as things as they are the first step is to cut carbon emmisions with wot we have leave conspirancies like hydro cars of cars running on water first lets start with wot we have
example:-
* using fuel efficent cars
* using as little as electricity possible
* using alternative energy (know to us) as much as possible.           the problem with valuing art is, till u dont understand it, it's worthless but wen u do understand it, it's priceless!!

Its an experiment that will conclude the feasibility of fusion energy and they stimate by 2030 the construction of commercial plants.
