Using Computer Keyboard as APC20/40

I am wondering if anyone knows how to configure a computer keyboard to function as a MIDI controller for Ableton. I don't mean to send MIDI information to a synth as if it were a piano reel controller, instead, I would like to use my computer keyboard as if it were an APC20 or something, where I can trigger a variety of clips from a set of preset keys.

Any thoughts?           --

Next to the midi map button in the top right corner there is a key button that will let you do it.

Yeah but that wouldn't give him the dynamic controls.. I have an APC40, and apart of the knob encoders, it would be cool if there could be an APC20 functionality with the keyboard keys..

Like, with Caps Lock active, the "qwerty" until "cvbnm," would allow the triggering of clips, and the arrow keys would move the red box, changing which clips are launchable with the keys.

I believe this is completely possible though some Ableton hacks with their python scripts, of maybe with a Max device.

Good luck.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

knocz - yeah you know what i am talking about, like a dynamic control that would emulate the "red box" you get when using an APC device. It would be awesome and save me the $250 on the APC haha. I found some guys on autohotkey.com working on the hack but it was way over my head.

Anyway if anyone else has any insights they would be appreciated!           --
