working with groups is not new.
with Luna soundcard you can add Bus and mix all groups in the luna mixer instead of the cubase.
it gives more control which can improve your sound
good luck

Group buses help balance and add effects in one go to key sections of the mix.           www.wizanda.com www.soundcloud.com/wizanda

For sure working with groups...groups its not buses...!!! Its the difference...if you routing main instruments...via...groups...you will get some lattency ratio...ihave checked this stuff ...but if you working completely with your buses latency is fine...and quallity is perfect.....routing via Scope Fusion Platform...its completely the best way to route
But I'am talking about simple cubase mixer Buses which can seriosly improve performance of your track specialy if you will equalize and compress it...for sure side chaining betwen buses will have some modern style effect of pumping ...

I'have checked latency in ms of loop(kick bass) in sound forge

Build of loop- 1 Kick+BASS=GROUP MONO=Bus

2 Kick+BASS=Bus (with multiple buses)

variation 1 bass reflex lower

Its something like 0.6 ms ratio between...but just think about whole project...with perc...all your sound goes with ration in 0.6ms betwin bus output and group to bus...its...can affect on your quallity of compression and structure of all sound ...on big system you will fill the difference !!!
Its right???

I haven't heard of latency problems. There must be some compensation... at least I hope so for you folks.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Not on Cubase, here there is full delay compensation on all channels and busses. And yes, a group in Cubase IS a bus; a bus is simply where multiple signals are combined together. You can also link fader levels together without actually combining the signals, as a VCA group (or linked channels in Cubase) but this is not a bus.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

A group is a bus and a bus is a group....

They are one and the same thing.

Unless of course you are referring to public transport, then its something completely different.

I don't think bussing /grouping channels necessarily improves your sound. It's all in the mix man. I use it sometimes for fx, to group together in one track where I have a delay or reverb like Colin mentioned.

I sometimes use groups for summing kick and bass and compress together, but that is very rare...

i find using groups suits me better when i have used a whole FX chain on one channel and want to experiment with more! hehe

the improvement is in the control over the whole mix. instead of mixing 64 channels you only mix 8 channel.
i think what you call BUS is the alter Master out which in the end goes into the ScopeFusion Mixer.

groups can help you get the whole percussions (for example) at the same level/Bit/Peak etc..

i always try to group my channels as much as possible for the sake of simplicity.

p.s. i almost got scared and confused when i heard first that grouping improves the sound, its like saying, increasing volume will brighten up your percussion lol
