we are forming a psytrance collective in detroit on a very limited budget and are looking to get a controller to use with a laptop to get started. we could use help. is this thing any good? (see link)

What software are you planning to use?
If it's Traktor you might want to look at one of those Traktor ready controllers.

I guess it would be traktor but i dont have a reason why. is this the best chioce? i saw that traktor makes a 199$ console that includes software.

Traktor is software, not a company. It doesn't make.
Native Instruments makes Traktor.
What 199$ console are you talking about?

Getting one tomorrow. Planning to use it as the mixer, while the Novation Remote controls the fx section on Traktor.
I think I'll also get the Audio 2 DJ. Any opinions on it?

OK so we got the X1 controller and the audio 2 dj and the head phones are on the way...

what is a good place to start to learn how to dj?
