Hi... I want ask you, all music fanatics... How to deal with this:
I discovered A digital noise on my USB connections... on my Virus TI and my Korg R3.
I was experimenting with some guitar pedals... took a output of the virus and put it through a distortion and tried a compressor as well. There was a great digital noise... Afther some experiments... I discovered it was the USB port... If I pulled out the usb wire It would stop directly... Anyone any idea??? How to stop this??? In ableton spectrum: It records -85db, too much Tnx and sory for the bad English
ow... The noise is heard on all the jack outputs of every device connected with usb... |

i think that is ground loop between PC and virus
when you connect virus to PC and using only standard DIN midi
midi NOT have galvanical link and ground loop is
not connecting
and USB default have galv. link and noises from PC
go 2 audio....
i may wrong))))
sorry for bad eng 2)))))) |

you definately have a ground loop problem, poor electrics in the household, its very common, i had this same problem and solved it with 'ground loop isolators', google it you're spoilt with choice , and theyre pretty cheap |

is this noise in the high frequency domain or is it a low humming one? could be interference from other components inside your computer. I have never had a power issue anywhere on the planet i´ve taken my gear out. Ground loops usually only occur at the ac frequency (50 or 60 Hz depending on where you live) high pitched squeals sound like the individual components inside your computer are not shielded from each other properly (it could be the cpu, fans, clock circuitry you name it). one solution could be to avoid using the internal usb host and getting hold of another controller (of reputable quality) to see if that clears it up. Using quality usb cables is a given (preferably ones with chokes in both ends). Try out those options first as they may be the cheapest possible solutions. I really doubt it´s a problem with your household electrics unless the noise is a low frequency one.

i have a hight pitched noise with firewire but it come from the port , it s not very noticable but it piss me off ! i bought a other cable and the noise is lower now, do you have any idea how to fix this.(have to go very close to the firewire port to notice it with the new cable but sometimes i hear it back a little depending of what happen in the screen lol)
about ground loop maybe try to plug everyhting on the samae electrical plug, i had ground loop in the past in my monitors and it fixed it. for a studio it can be better to plug everyhting electrical on the same line if you can |

That noise could be related to any one of your components really. Improper shielding between noisy components and sensitive circuitry is most likely the culprit. Does this interference continue along the audio path or is it only emanating from the computer itself? As we get older our hearing decays naturally and i have a feeling many engineers overlook stuff like this in the prototype designs simply because they cannot hear it. A computer is a complex interplay between many, many components, internal as well as external) Hell even a fan can introduce noise (or a truck outside on the road with the engine running) All things considered it´s a wonder we do not have more issues.
In most cases the consensus seems to be that if it does not impair functionality we will skip it on the list when designing.

glad it s only in the computer not in the audio path ,my old computer was so noisy that maybe i never noticed problems like this , i checked a bit on the net and like you say it seems common issue these days.
one of these noise is coming from intel cpu and can be stoped with settings in some motherboard bios but not in latops it seems. |
