hi guys!

its heavily overused and we all know it. but i have a question here. there was a guy speaking on my sisters companys voicebox on the telephone. and i would like to use that speech. i was wondering if there is a law about how much u have to manipulate a soundfile in order to avoid getting possibly sued for using his voice. i mean pitchshifting + delay and chorus and stuff for example. whats enough? what isnt?

i hope someone knows something about that           :O!

There is not one law. Every country has it's own laws and they differ. I'd just use the sample if I were you. If it gets released, and they guy hears the sample in some strange and bizarre coicidence, he still probably wouldn't recognize it if you change it alot.
Or try to find out who it is and ask him. Or just remake the sample with your own or a friends voice.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

id rather get some publicity out of a track and not get payed instead of not making the track due to fear of being caught

in 90s there was a guy called Scanner/Skanner, something like this - that guy make ambient music by record phone talks with police scanner and he sell this tracks in normal label. so i think you have nothing to fear
