Here is a question that I am hoping maybe someone can answer for me...I am looking to come out to Israel in the next month or so ....when looking for travel info on the US gov's site, it said that they are very suspicious of US women traveling alone to Israel & normally stop them and search them...of course I won't be caring anything illegal, it just worries me that I would be stopped at all... also it mentions they take laptops and sometime return them damaged or not at all...has anyone else has had any problems like this? Any other travel recommendations would be much appreciated. I can't wait to visit!
Much love,
*christine
ps. I am not worried about the vacation itself, just the arrival....i won't be staying in the thick of things...but down south (working on some music with some friends & hopefully playing a few parties) |

Not sure about the laptops, but what you heard is true.
If you encounter any problems, ask for the name of the person who is stopping you, and then ask to talk to his supervisor.
Maybe it can help. |

Just be cool and answer their questions straight. it might help to have someone wait for you at the terminal to greet you. come in alone and you're twice as suspicious. do you have any relatives in israel? if so, have them meet you at the airport. make sure you have all your papers in order, your visa, your passport etc. don't pack anything that might raise suspicion, certainly not in your handbag.
as timmy here said, if someone stops you, ask for his supervisor, preferably someone who speaks english well.

Thanks for the quick reply guys!
I don't have any relatives, but I do have some friends that can meet me at the airport. Once more thing....You said to answer questions straight...since I am coming to make music and dj, I am wondering if I should mention this...do they frown upon dj's as much as they do here in the states? Hmmmm so many things to worry about! I guess I could just say I am away on holiday visiting some friends, but I have a feeling they might want more, not to mention, I will be bringing along my cd flight case & headphones, which will give away the dj part...also I checked into getting a visa and they don't issue them prior to the visit, but at the time of the visit upon your arrival in israel.
thanks again! |

just say that you come to holiday-be cool & enjoy.
no worry need --- it is a regular country as everywhere...just relax.no body can tell for what you come-you know that better than everyone.don't say that you come to play because you need for that paper for work and you don't have it.
cheers

Would help if you had some extra money and pay for a VIP entrance. This way they don't really bug you. Majority is never right!

Don't worry a bit.....I'm actually more afraid of being searched in a US airport from stories I hear from people....
The people here are nice and not likely to give you any trouble if you don't look like a threat. Maybe you'll get some customs check but that's about it, and small chance of that.
Have fun and maybe we'll get to see ya play
