Hey there everybody,
So today im going to get some headphones to use for my studio when i cant run the sound out on the monitor speakers.
Do you have any idea of what to get for that, im planning to get AKG K240 studio version. The reason is that they got very well reviews on other sites and they are supposed to be very honest in their sound. Honest = no coloration of the sound.
If you can then please gimme some feedback on this.
Cheers!
Joakim

my advice is to not use headphone at all for mixing. use it only in the soundproof singing room ( if you have one ). |

Sometimes, you don't have access to such rooms and to prevent pissing off you neighbors, headphones are incredibly neccesary. I have gotten excellent results from using just headphones (silver sonys) but I am certain that is because I was used to how music sounded with them. I have used multiple pairs of monitors (Alesis M-1s, mark 1 and 2, Krks, Mackie 824s) and for me I have a difficult time having an accurate representation of what is on the monitors to what is on a large sound system. For me, headphones are a bit truer to what comes out on the soundsystem. I of course cannot speak for everyone and I do believe it is good to use both when possible, but I do find it very handy to use headphones when you don't want to annoy your neighbors. I have a set of AKG's also, (not sure of the model) but I haven't decided if I like them or not.

What can i say, AKG K240, worth every penny, got the same results of the track im woking on now as when im listening theu my monitors, reall f¤#%ing nice...
And they are comfortable for sure, easy preassure to the head and clean and pristine sound...
Dennis, i second Mubali's oppinion about using headphones instead of monitors, and i cant always use my monitors unfourtunately.
Cheers!

yeah of course use headphones when you need it but try to set it on low volume settings cuz wrong headphones use can really damage hearing. use it only when necessary. sony and akg are both very good. |

Listening to music at high volume no matter what type of speakers you use can be damaging to your hearing... Headphones especially because of the close proximity to your ear drum, but who says you have to listen to music really loud all the time? I personally have a theory that if you can make it sound good and balanced at a low volume, it will be just as clear at a high volume...

yeah!I think so!exactly as I do: nearly always low volume settings during music and synthesis composition.
