I now own a DJM-400, but I found this Urei mixer for a very good price.
Considering its got many more options and stuff than the DJM, I think it could replace my DJM.

But have any of you people got any experience with the Urei?

If so, could you tell a little about its overal sound quality and quality of the fx?

I haven't used or know anyone who has used the Urei, but if you can afford Pioneer, go with that. Their equipment is just unmatched in this industry.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

^ He already has a DJM?

I tried out that Urei for a few minutes once and it seemed pretty decent. I didn't mess with the fx at all, so I can't comment on that. Urei is a Soundcraft subsidiary, and I've always had good experiences with their mixers.

I would still prefer to stick with the Pioneer any day..might not have as many bells and whistles but you can trust it'll be high quality.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

I never got to test the urei, but if its the same company like the proaudio urei (I think a division of jbl now), I'd highly recommend that one.

the features on that site look also more interesting than the djm. (maybe I'm just too used to it?! )

anyway, test the urei and get it           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

Lol, yeah probably woulda helped if I saw that part

I second trying out Allen and Heath. They're expensive as heck, but really good. I still stand by keeping/getting Pioneer over anything else.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Why don't you upgrade your pioneer to a newer one?           Monitoring devices, know where you go
Mass media, total control
Digital delight, desire in megabite
Data overflow, virtual suicide
This information, is disinformation

Well, it's all about Pioneer Pioneer and Pioneer.
That's why I thought it be a nice idea to have something else than 'Pioneer'.
And if quality wise the Urei matches up with the Pioneer, why not!?

I also think it looks better than the Pioneer:-)

The EVO 5 has been awarded as Best USB/FireWire mixer by UK magazine DJmag. The EVO 5 won the award versus Allen&Heath XONE:4D and Korg ZERO4.

The NUO 4.0 has obtained the Tech Award as Best DJ Mixer under £500.

Worth checking out for sure

So I got the Urei mixer now.
This is a solid and strong looking mixer.
By the looks, I would take it over the DJM, and besides this it does have some very nice extra options which the DJM doesn't have.

Also the headphone volume is much much louder than the DJM.
On the DJM, I cannot go much further than 50 % of the volume without the sound getting too distorted.

So that's all a bit an advantage over the DJM.

But, the DJM just works very nicely, everything is in reach and it's just a joy to play with.
Where the Urei doesn't even have mid-clicks, where you know the EQ is at neutral, so you have to really look closer and adjust it a bit to make sure it is set correct.

I feel a bit bothered by the fact that I can't choose of which of the two to keep.

So for now I think I'm going to play with both the coming weeks, and see if the extra features are really worth it, or if I should better stuck with the DJM.
