I'm thinking in upgrading my computer because it gets too slow on cubase. I'm unemployed so my budget is really low so keep that in mind.
My computer is:
processor: Pentium 3 1000mhz
memory: 384mb SDR RAM
graphics: Kyro 3D Prophet 4500
soundcard: sound blaster 64 PCI (no joke)
what should i upgrade? something cheap and which will increase the performance (i would love to be able to use albino and z3ta in my tracks)... i'm tired of producing at 44khz loool
if buying a new pc is the only solution (my motherboard doesn't support either P4 or firewire :S ) please tell me one with minimum specs to write music.

Motherboard PCCHIPS
Its a cheap config, but i can work with all vst´s i want, if i change the motherboard and the soundboar it comes professional (joking)

hi e-motion
we have a situation here hehe. i wouldn´t advise much on upgrading since your system is a bit old for that. one thing i think would be of the most importance in your situation is to get a new processor, P4 with hyper threading, but by changing the processor you would also have to change motherboard and ram. so i think maybe its better since you have a low budget to start buying a cheap new computer and then upgrading the new computer. if you go to http://www.chip7.pt for ex. they have like computers onlky with the essencials from 350euros, the box, motherboard, cpu, ram and hdd. maybe this could be a solution for you.
try this link for example
http://www.chip7.pt/catalogo/detalhes_produto.php?id=8551
hope this helps |

yeah i know both chip7 and chipsite... i have 240gb in HDD from them hehe.
anyway will my spec support Audiophile 2496
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Audiophile2496-focus.html ?
i was told it requires fire wire to work... is this true? when i checked the website i didn't read anything related to that. is this true? and would it increase my performance to an acceptable level?
buying a new pc will only be possible later on * preparing mentaly to spend money * loool
thanks all |
