I split up with my girlfriend of 7 years a couple of weeks ago. We were about to move into a house together and she ended it. We haven't spoken since. I feel pretty weird about the whole thing, but not down.. I guess it was so sudden, unexpected and because we haven't even spoken since, the situation hasn't sunk in yet I don't know what to feel.

I consider it a life upgrade. If it wasn't meant to be, then things can only get better for me and I can concentrate on my passion for music, uninterrupted by inane female nagging.

Fuck it. I went on a massive spending spree and bought myself a few little things..

An Ikea bedside table. Which I intend to DIY modify into a rack space for my outboard synths, soundcard and DAC.

Ordered Cubase 5 which I'm dead excited about, probably the biggest change to my workflow in 5 years since I started on SX3.

Ordered an FMR "Really Nice Compressor", my first bit of analogue outboard that I hope to run some sounds through to impart a bit of analogue goodness (I might buy their levelling amp as well which has been pointed out, and I have read myself, gives more colour than the RNC)

Some pretty nice Sennheiser in-ear headphones for riding my bike. I've been meaning to upgrade my ipod headphones for, well.. ever. They're complete crap. They keep falling out and all I can hear is wind when I'm moving. So to motivate my continued health effort I went for some mid-priced sound isolating phones.

!! Sound isolating - on a bike - seems kinda dangerous. However, I already fell off and almost broken my arm last month so I guess I'm good for another month or so. Been picking gravel and scabs off my arm for weeks, and now I'm certain I'm addicted to opiate based painkillers thanks to the doctor saying "Holy shit, that looks painful, have a *massive* box of prescription codeine."

Mmm, what else. Oh yeah, a Pico Gold memory stick >>

Total bling, but I needed new flash and this makes me look like a gangster.

I think I'm done spending for now. It made me feel better, and hey, at least I didn't reach for the crack and booze!
