Yo yo yo to all!
One thing that should be most concerned. Actually every time I want to check where some artist perform I prefer to check up on "Upcoming Show" section on myspace profile (considering that it is the most valid place for checking written by artist him self) and in 90% I find nonexistent announcements. Always try to check up in google name of party cause when I go inside of link there is no any info about it or name of parties are usually marked as TBA or TBC. Usually find NOTHING!!! So what is the point of doing that!? Nothing else left to me but to understand that some of so call artists on that way want to pay attention on them self as huge performing producers. By fake announcements? How lame!!!
Ok I know that bunch of you would say: "I don't give a dame about that" ,but that's the one of the main reason why you at least once per day for someone say: "Why this asshole acting like he's somebody when he is nobody and nothing!". So you give a dame at the end!
For me is the difference. I don't give a dame who is somebody and who is nobody. I just want to get inform about someone performing and to be shore that is true. To find at least one link with organizers original announcement on official web or on forum as official announcement, not just headline in upcoming show at someone myspace!!!

this is retarded, imagine an organizer goes on a myspace of an artist he wants to book but see's he is booked on the date of his party, so he end's up not contacting him even though the date is fake. in the end the artist play even less

MySpace is rubbish.
Realistically, artists should be maintaining their upcoming gigs list on their own web page. But many don't... so many people do things half-assed in this scene.

If you are a musician full time with a manager maybe it is easy to make your own page. But I can imagine many artists would rather make some more music with the precious hours they have than to learn the trade of building websites.
Fake shows are lame indeed!

To be honest I would think that way for someone who complain on such thing like this topic but! You would be surprise how many artists do that no matter of what kind of music they produce or "produce". Actually I bumped mostly on fake upcoming shows when I was checking upcoming festivals cause during the summer time I travel a lot and I like to cruising through the artists profiles and check where someone play. If I do not find any information about party inside of upcoming show I try to find on google by coping the name of party and of course in 99% I find nothing.
IMO this is sick way of promoting, especially if everyone can check is it real or its fake.
@Basilisk
So many of them do not have their own webs so myspace is only thing that is left to check. BTW myspace is excellent profile for promotion just need to have few more option to prevent spam things. |

Now hold up just a minute, Basi who is one of the most progressive digital audio distributors to date claims that myspace is rubbish? Without myspace where would you go to find first hand information about an artist?
Did you ever find an artist on myspace that you released on your website?

MySpace only has power and use because it has become the de facto substitute for a real web page with all the fixings. It doesn't take a lot of effort to setup a profile, share music, post gigs, and utilize other functions common to most underground artists.
The problem is that so many profiles are poorly updated, uninformative, illegible, and/or overloaded with animated widgets, all of which detract from the artist-listener experience in a major way. Not only that, but for my purposes MySpace is next to useless since the sound quality is so poor. I make it clear on my site that I do not take links to a MySpace profile in lieu of a proper demo.
I recognize MySpace's function in this scene but I still think it's rubbish. See, it wouldn't be so used if it weren't for the fact that almost every psytrance producer uses MySpace as their primary web presence. In other words, the half-assedness runs deep in this scene And that's fine, but artists don't own their platform, and anyone with nothing more than a MySpace profile is unlikely to be winning the search engine wars with pirate outlets. Case in point, go look up "solid snake unleashed" on Google.
