YYYYYYEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH RAAAAWWWKIN' THE PSYSTEP, BITCHES!
Seriously though, I feel like when I went crazy about psystep 4 months ago on this message board, there was only a little enthusiasm. Now everybody's doing it! ...Actually, that's fucking awesome. And apparently I'm a fucking hipster.
I like this tune. The drums are awesome, and I like your arrangement of samples at 2:00-2:30 area
I don't like your bass, however. I think you could make it a lot more interesting. And honestly, that would make this track twice as good instantly. Smoke a phattie or take a walk, whatever you do to prepare yourself, and sit down and churn out bassline ideas for the rest of the day. With some progression and movement and interest below 100hz, this would be a rocking mellow psy/dubstep tune.
and, just so we're clear:
YYYEEEEAAAAHHHHHH!!!! PSYSTEP, BITCHES!

Get this bass down an octave...Also,actually make it more interesting,or,if you want to put more content in midrange, you can make it the simplest sine wave ever, but low at 1 octave,so you can feel the air pumping back and forth. |

Well, you can go midrange killah dirty grit metalic bass (is it really bass by definition),by going FM,those are actually easy to do.
If you don't want to go FM way,you can go granular way-sample percussive element, put it in granulizer of some sort-or just put it into piano roll, chop it to tiny tiny bits possible, resample, put fattening plugins on top,and win.
Other way is using some bitcrusher plugin on top of some regular lead you like, make it really "grainy",resample long, win.
Put those in some sampler of your choice with LFO,and play around.Record different LFO's,chop to bits, put back, win.
You have to be carefull with metalic grit, those basslines usually take a shitload of bandwidth,so you have to put less content if you use that one.
If you want dubby feeling, simple bassline like triangle, square,or sine will do,just really low.Sawtooth actually do not do the job that well I thhink, cause they peak at soundable range, and you literally can hear the peaks of each saw, which isn't such a nice thing.
As a matter of fact, you did used in this one sawtooth?

What Jekvan said.
Throw an LFO on all sorts of various things. If you work by bouncing, then yes, bounce, rebounce, reverse, chop up... basically make the bassline glitchy and funky while still carrying on a good, dancefloor shaking groove. Lots of trial and error! I spend about 2 days on a tune and 3 weeks on the bass.

right on!
the bass for the first 40 seconds is a little much on its own, but at the 0:40 mark, that bass change up is just fantastic! love that part. consider a portmento sine-wave slide sometimes, or just a filter riser with energy in the sub frequencies... for example... but yes, this is the right track!
and damn, i really do like that sample.
your tracks have improved greatly, tbh, dude. keep 'em coming... and keep up the genre bending if you like.
