actually its about arrangement, but quantisize rhymes^^
So im looking fore some words about arrangemtn, i dont really know how free i can be so that in sense of a dj (for expl.) does not hate me for not holding some "laws" about arrangement.
here is my pattern
So my question is about the 33rd bar.
Can i do this? Or would it be better to make the brake in the 32nd bar? Because im somehow confused with where the loop actually starts and ends, and it feels strange when i stop on the the end of the 48th bar (thats why i put a full offbeat note in the nex bar, to get a reference...).
Same with the end of the 64th bar.
I dont really have the feeling of when the loop starts and end. How can i avoid this? Can you suggest me some script or a video that describes a bit who to do this right?
here is also the sound file

yeah, i mixed this with my headphones... so excpect massive basses^^ |

this is right actually...
there are few rules, im not a bigger knower of that stuff, i make a break like this and hear if the loops come back again in the right time...
with good ears u dont need theory, after listening tracks soo many times u will know if it fits...
i learned this by my self and my tracks sound fine
but this is right

Just loop from beginning to the 33rd. It would sound more natural with the break on the 32nd, but by all means experiment with composition and arrangement. But since you mentioned having trouble knowing where the loop resets, that would be on the 33rd, and that break would sound natural (taking something out, within those lines) on the 32rd. |

You can do whatever you want my friend! That's one of the beauties of making music: you can actually break all the rules there are, as long as you make it sound good. And in this case, it does
One of the greatest complaints I hear about progressive and full on psy is it's predictability, so you're welcome to change it in your liking and making it interesting -> that's all that matters.
However, looking at your arrangement (and supposing that most of that is midi clips,) you can still do a ton of things with it. Imagine your favorite artist would have a listen to this tune, is this all you've got? Bring it on!
Yeah, people want the 32 bar loops and the 4 to the floor, but you can enhance it all until oblivion, and still keep it psy. The only drag about changing the structure order of when the down beat comes in is regarding DJ's (but trance isn't techno..). Go hear some mode dark psy, and you'll notice that structure is raped again and again, just to make it more mental and crazier
But you're on the right path! You must first know the rules in order to break them on purpose, and questioning your actions are a great way of thinking what you're doing. No matter what you're doing (could be the biggest mistake you know, sat like chaining a bunch of EQ's on the bass each boosting the same low bass freq by 10db), but you can also thihk: "who said I cant do it? I've just got to do that, and in some way make it work" (like to compress the hell out of the EQ example, plus saturation plus distortion plus another EQ to tame it into olace, and you can make it usable).

knocz, thank you so much.
You actually gave me now some kind of more secureness about what i can do, althrough i still dont really now what i do but that is normal, i mean i'm just starting getting really into!
dark and specially the forest psy is what drives me do try it by myself. I was just unsecure because there is so much possabilites and althrought i think i can hear a lot more than a year ago (structure and layering and stuff) it's still indeed kinda confusing how glichty a tune can be AND also sound good.
But yeah i want to do my music as i like, and for this i need to break some common "rules" to get where i want to be one day.
take some thanks man! |

One thing i know is that you make the service to you and others by following your own ears, then the result will be best by artistic means. By quality means maybe not, jet. That part you can improve. But dont ever believe that you should be someone else, because you went like that.. Also musical backround since kid helps in these issues, it makes it come more from your nature.. then you have more energy to focus the art itself. Important is to see it as an art not a recipe.
