a sad story imho this time - UP destroyed itself this time. a complete overload of people - way too much to hold & a lot of spirit lost - way not enough showers & toilets, too expensive - a lot of character lost. pure greediness? maybe? who knows?
we were there the 3rd time and that was the last time...shame really.

i agree. we were told they were about 35,000 people there. that's crazy. the last time i was there in 06/07, there were maybe 10,000. same place. granted, they added 2 more stages. but still, there wasn't really enough shade for everyone during the day to be comfortable. and the sun in bahia is brutal.

lines everywhere. for the showers. for the toilets (which constantly kept running out of paper). for the overpriced food. lots of bomba-trancers. lots of lawn-chairs in the middle of the dance floor, taking valuable space.

wasn't impressed with the stage set up, decorations, and particularly visuals this year, which hardly changed. what's up with all the skulls everywhere? shit looked pretty cheesy.

also, pretty much no internationally known chill artists were booked at all. but at least the brazilian djs did a good job and chillout was the only stage for me that consistently had any sort of vibe.

of course it was not all bad and i still had a good time. it's still a party at a really beautiful beach and you have to be super jaded to not enjoy yourself at all. but i feel the bad definitely outweigh the good and i can't see myself returning to UP ever again.           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

yes, this is brought down to the most important and the truth - and also about the toilets it was disgusting how people was pissing everywhere and a lot of sh****** in nature to. really a shame.
yes i agree with you about the chillout - the vibe and people was very positive there - to play there was not the best thing as you could hear the sound of the alternative stage just next to it!! so a bit of a bad mixup - and the chillout was way to small imho.
yes, could not deal with the self -content and arrogance of many brazilians there - not all but many - and a lot of machos with big muscles and made up women....ugly to see in behaviour to.
and all this skulls were agressive and disgusting - and really a big 'shame on you' to the orgas for their greediness! 'cause the place, the beach and all would be the best place for a real quality festival as it was before - aslo when the mainstage was by the beach...but this is the past.
as said - the last time UP.
